About

This site publishes the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's three public databases — consumer complaints, recall campaigns and defect investigations — joined together and organised by year, make and model.

It is independent. It is not affiliated with NHTSA, with any vehicle manufacturer, dealer, insurer or law firm, and it does not sell leads, collect visitor details or pass anything about you to anybody. It is compiled by guarledes and paid for by advertising.

It is not a substitute for a VIN check. Recalls apply to production ranges rather than to whole model years, so the only way to know what applies to your car is to look it up at nhtsa.gov/recalls, free, using your own VIN.

It is not a reliability ranking and not advice. The counting rules and the claims this site refuses to make are set out in how this is counted.
