VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD:CRITICAL FASTENERS
- The defect
- BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2026 X4 and X6 vehicles. The windshield may not be sealed properly, allowing water to enter the power distribution box or electronic control unit.
- What it can cause
- Water inside electrical components can cause a loss of headlights or door closing functions, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, an electrical short circuit may occur, increasing the risk of a fire while parked or driving.
- What the dealer does
- Dealers will inspect, reseal the windshield, and replace the vehicle control unit and wiring, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 21, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
The repair is free, whatever the age or mileage of the vehicle, and whether or not you are the original owner.
