ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING

The defect
Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Altec Digger Derrick, and 2023-2025 Altec TA Series Aerial Device vehicles. Improper wiring may prevent the boom stow auto-neutral feature from engaging, which can allow the truck to be driven while the boom is still elevated.
What it can cause
When the vehicle is moved or driven with the boom out of stow, the vehicle could exceed the recorded travel height, increasing the risk of a crash.
What the dealer does
Altec will correct the wiring in the power distribution module to enable the boom stow auto-neutral functionality, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 20, 2026. Owners may contact Altec's customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN-3370.

The repair is free, whatever the age or mileage of the vehicle, and whether or not you are the original owner.

Which vehicles

A recall reaches a range of VINs inside these model years, not every car built in them. Yours may not be covered even if it is listed here, and the only way to find out is NHTSA's own VIN lookup.

How this campaign compares

At 143 vehicles this is a small campaign: 65% of the 19,840 vehicle recalls with a published size filed from 1995 up to this one are as large or larger. The middle campaign among them covers 472. It covers model years 2021 to 2026, so the oldest vehicles on it were 5 model years old when the defect was reported to NHTSA.

Altec vehicles have been recalled over the electrical system 35 times before this, most recently in July 2026 as 26V457000. That is not evidence the earlier repair failed.

The vehicles on this campaign carry 25 other recalls published here, the newest being: 26V541000 (forward collision avoidance), 26V409000 (equipment), 26V310000 (equipment), 26V247000 (forward collision avoidance).

Check your own car

A VIN check is the only answer for a specific vehicle, and it also shows every other open recall on it, which is usually the reason it is worth doing rather than reading one campaign.

Filed by Altec Industries, Inc. with NHTSA on September 24, 2026 as campaign 26V617000. Every word of the defect, consequence and remedy above is NHTSA's published record of that filing, not a summary of it.
