The defect
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LCC (Jaguar) is recalling one 2016 Jaguar F-Type vehicle manufactured February 3, 2015. The affected vehicle has the power steering system still set in the supplier's factory operating mode. In this condition, in the event of a steering system malfunction, the vehicle can experience additional steering inputs from the electric power steering system.
The risk
If the vehicle is in motion when this occurs, the driver may unexpectedly lose the ability to control the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Jaguar will notify the owner, and a dealer will either correct the steering system software or replace the steering rack, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin October 31, 2015. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is J055.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

1 injured · crash · towed

I have been encountering a persistent issue with the engine, which exhibits symptoms of underperformance, occasionally necessitating a complete stop. Additionally, the ABS warning light activates intermittently without providing any diagnostic codes before subsequently disappearing. A recent diagnostic check identified several minor concerns. I've also observed a degradation in the vehicle's handling characteristics, paired with a "Stability Control No Longer Available" warning message. I have ruled out a fuse-related issue, as all fuses have been assessed and found to be functional. Furthermore, my vehicle seems subject to additional recall considerations. STEERING
Symptoms of failure was present prior to complete failure. At highway speed, vehicle sometimes resisted steering input. At 20-30mph, steering wanders side to side and fights my steering inputs. When complete failure occurred, steering became difficult at low speed, parking situations. No warning or error message on dash. Vehicle was towed to dealer where they determined the electric motor on the steering rack suffered an internal failure. When disconnected from power, the steering rack was smooth, albeit unassisted. When connected to power, the steering rack was stiff and difficult to turn. It was determined that the electric motor resisted steering input rather than assist. Steering racks

VISIBILITY/WIPER
I was traveling at the legal speed limit of 70 mph on the freeway with no vehicles within 50 yards of my vehicle in all directions. I had been driving for about an hour and was on a bluetooth connected phone call through the car speakers when I heard the sound of glass popping and shattering over my left shoulder. First, I looked in the rear view mirror to see if the hatch window had shattered, but it had not. Next, I looked over my left shoulder at the driver side quarter window, the vehicle only has two seats so there is no back door window, and saw that it was completely shattered but held in place with the protective film car windows are required to have. I existed the freeway the first

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I own a 2016 Jaguar F-Type R. Some of these cars have an inherent manufacturing flaw with the coating on the trim pieces. From my research I discovered that this is a wide ranging problem for their vehicles in geographic locations that are consistently hot. Jaguar Land Rover North America is well aware of this problem. On 1/24/20 I brought my vehicle in for service. On this service call the vehicle was under warranty. I pointed out the issue with the right side vent trim piece, the worst of the deteriorating parts. The coating was deteriorating from the heat. In these cases they start to peel or become sticky like rubber cement. The other trim pieces also needed to be replaced. They

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
