- The defect
- Fontaine Modification Company (Fontaine Modification) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Freightliner Business Class M2 vehicles. Welds may crack and fail, allowing the Intermediate steering shaft assembly to detach from the steering column.
- What it can cause
- A steering shaft that detaches can result in a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
- What the dealer does
- Fontaine Modification will replace the intermediate steering shaft, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 3, 2025. Owners may contact Fontaine Modification customer service at 1-800-366-8246.
The repair is free, whatever the age or mileage of the vehicle, and whether or not you are the original owner.
