VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS

The defect
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2025-2027 Cadillac OPTIQ vehicles. When closed using the key fob's express-up function, the front windows may fail to detect an obstruction and reverse direction. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 118, "Power-Operated Window Systems."
What it can cause
A closing window that does not reverse direction as expected can pinch a passenger before retracting, increasing the risk of injury.
What the dealer does
The body control module (BCM) software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 9, 2026. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N262567230. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 24, 2026.

The repair is free, whatever the age or mileage of the vehicle, and whether or not you are the original owner.

Which vehicles

A recall reaches a range of VINs inside these model years, not every car built in them. Yours may not be covered even if it is listed here, and the only way to find out is NHTSA's own VIN lookup.

How this campaign compares

At 29,347 vehicles this is a bigger campaign than 86% of the 19,840 vehicle recalls with a published size filed from 1995 up to this one. The middle campaign among them covers 472. It covers model years 2025 to 2027, so the oldest vehicles on it were one model year old when the defect was reported to NHTSA.

Cadillac vehicles have been recalled over the visibility 6 times before this, most recently in October 2023 as 23V681000. That is not evidence the earlier repair failed.

This site holds the complaint record for 2 of the 3 model years the campaign names. Their owners have filed 18 complaints with NHTSA, 10 of them before this campaign was filed. The earliest of them reached NHTSA in April 2025, 1 year before this filing.

The vehicles on this campaign carry 2 other recalls published here: 26V114000 (equipment), 25V704000 (tires).

A VIN check is the only answer for a specific vehicle, and it also shows every other open recall on it, which is usually the reason it is worth doing rather than reading one campaign.
