- The defect
- Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2024 Land Rover Defender vehicles. The second-row seat belt may be improperly stitched.
- What it can cause
- An improperly stitched seat belt may fail to properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- What the dealer does
- Dealers will inspect the second-row seat belt serial number, and replace the seat belt, as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed November 20, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact Land Rover's customer service at 800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is D130.
The repair is free, whatever the age or mileage of the vehicle, and whether or not you are the original owner.
Which vehicles
A recall reaches a range of VINs inside these model years, not every car built in them. Yours may not be covered even if it is listed here, and the only way to find out is NHTSA's own VIN lookup.

How this campaign compares
At 371 vehicles this is a small campaign: 52% of the 19,840 vehicle recalls with a published size filed from 1995 up to this one are as large or larger. The middle campaign among them covers 472. It covers one model year, 2024, so the oldest vehicles on it were 2 model years old when the defect was reported to NHTSA.
Land Rover vehicles have been recalled over the seat belts 10 times before this, most recently in May 2026 as 26V297000. That is not evidence the earlier repair failed.
This site holds the complaint record for all 1 model year the campaign names. Their owners have filed 25 complaints with NHTSA, 21 of them before this campaign was filed. 1 of those name the seat belts, the system this recall is about — a count of complaints, not of this defect. The earliest of them reached NHTSA in November 2023, 2 years before this filing.
The vehicles on this campaign carry 6 other recalls published here, the newest being: 26V599000 (electrical system), 26V389000 (air bags), 26V248000 (electrical system), 25V016000 (back over prevention).

A VIN check is the only answer for a specific vehicle, and it also shows every other open recall on it, which is usually the reason it is worth doing rather than reading one campaign.
