The defect
MITSUBISHI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2010 ENDEAVOR VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, IOWA, KENTUCKY, MAINE, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, MINNESOTA, MISSOURI, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, VIRGINIA, WEST VIRGINIA, WISCONSIN, AND WASHINGTON D.C. COLD STATES INCLUDE NORTH DAKOTA, SOUTH DAKOTA, NEBRASKA, KANSAS, OKLAHOMA, COLORADO, WYOMING, MONTANA, IDAHO, WASHINGTON, OREGON, AND UTAH. ADJOINING STATES INCLUDE ARKANSAS, TENNESSEE, AND NORTH CAROLINA. IN SEVERE CORROSIVE ENVIRONMENTS WHERE ROAD SALTS ARE FREQUENTLY USED IN WINTER VEHICLES MAY BE EXPOSED TO ROAD DEBRIS (MUD) MIXED WITH ROAD SALT. THIS MATERIAL CAN BECOME TRAPPED BETWEEN A REINFORCING BRACKET AND THE FUEL FILLER PIPE, POTENTIALLY CAUSING CORROSION. OVER TIME, CORROSION COULD CREATE A LEAK IN THE FUEL FILLER PIPE THAT COULD RESULT IN A FUEL LEAKAGE WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE.
The risk
FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
The remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL FILLER PIPE WITH A NEW IMPROVED PART FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE JULY 5, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MITSUBISHI AT 1-800-222-0037.

The defect

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I bought this car used and found out the 2010-02-25 United States FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY: FILLER PIPE AND CAP is and was in a safety recall when i pump gas the filler tube leaks gas onto the ground so i called a dealership here in Iowa and was told there is no recalls on this vehicle so i sent them the documentation from Mitsubishi was told after they looked it up its already been fixed so they will not do the recall work again was also told once a vehicle is to old they don't have to recall work that is not true if its on the road and licensed they have to do the work.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
The fuel filler pipe is leaking from behind the protection plate. I've contacted a local dealer and the Manufacturer and feel that I'm getting the run around as there is a previous recall for this same problem on the 2004 model, while mine is a 2010. I had it inspected prior to contacting Mitsubishi.

I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW USED CAR DEALERSHIP HOME TOWN AUTO CAN SELL YOU A CAR THEY KNOW HAVE AN OPEN RECALL ON A VEHICLE BUT FAIL TO LET THE AMERICAN CONSUMER KNOW AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE IN 2020,THEN CALL YOU A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER SAYING THEY NEED YOU TO COME AND SIGN A PAPER SAYING AS FAR AS THEY KNOW THERE'S NO OPEN RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. I ASKED WHY? IS THERE A RECALL ON MY CAR? I WAS TOLD NO. THE ONLY WAY I FOUND OUT THERE IS A RECALL ON MY CAR SINCE 2009 WAS FROM MY INSURANCE PROVIDER. SO I CALLED THE CAR DEALERSHIP AND ASKED HOW CAN YOU SELL ME A CAR THAT HAS A OPEN RECALL 2009. HE TELLS ME OH YEAH YOU CAN CALL THE 1-800 AND GET IT FIXED FOR FREE. I ASKED SO YOU KNEW AT THE

I BOUGHT THAT MITSUBISHI ENDEAVOR 2010 BUT WITHIN 9 YEARS, THE PIPE FILLING FROM GAS CAP TO THE TANK HAS A BIG HOLE AND GAS FALLING ON THE FLOOR WHEN I AM FILLING AT THE GAS STATION. WHEN I CHECK CARS.COM I SAW A RECALL: 10V065000 BUT I CHECK WITH THE MITSUBISHI DEALER I AM TOLD THAT THERE ANY RECALL FOR MY CAR.

AIR BAGS
TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY CANNOT FIX MY PROBLEM DUE TO THE FACT MITSUBISHI STOPPED MANUFACTURING THE PART NEEDED. THE CAR IS ONLY EIGHT YEARS OLD! YES THEY DISCONTINUED THIS MODEL BUT THE PARTS? THIS IS RIDICULOUS, MY AIR BAG SENSOR IS DISABLED AND TURNED OFF WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE! I CANNOT FIX IT AND I WONDER IF I CAN EVEN SELL IT DUE TO THE FACT IT HAS NO WORKING AIR BAGS. HOW CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS? I THOUGHT THE NHTSA WAS A PLACE WHERE CONSUMERS OF CARS SOLD IN THIS COUNTRY COULD GO TO HELP REMEDY THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS.

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
