The defect
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Range Rover Sport vehicles equipped with a Surround Camera System. Water may enter into the rearview camera, which can cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display or display a distorted image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
The risk
A rearview camera image that does not display can decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
The remedy
Dealers will inspect the rearview camera for damage. If no damage is found, the camera will be fitted with a new seal. If damage is found, the camera will be replaced and calibrated. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 18, 2024. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. An investigation means NHTSA has decided a pattern is worth examining. A preliminary evaluation is often closed with no action; an engineering analysis is the stage that usually precedes a recall.

Front Steering Knuckle Fractures

the steering

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) is upgrading its Preliminary Evaluation (PE25006) of front steering knuckle fractures on model year (MY) 2014 through 2017 Range Rover Sport vehicles to an Engineering Analysis.  ODI opened PE25006 on June 27, 2025, after receiving 12 Vehicle Owner's Questionnaire (VOQ) reports of the front aluminum steering knuckles fracturing in these vehicles. The reports describe the fractures occurring at the joint where the steering knuckle attaches to the upper control arm ball joint in one or both steering knuckles.  Fracture of the front suspension knuckle can lead to detachment of the upper suspension arm. Detachment of the upper suspension arm results in the driver’s inability to control the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. ODI reviewed information supplied by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in response to Information Request letters as well as reviewed the data with JLR on numerous occasions. ODI further reviewed relevant data on a peer vehicle with a significantly similar steering knuckle design, the MY 2014 through 2017 Range Rover.  Much of the information is contradictory and requires a deeper analysis that is available in an Engineering Analysis. On August 5, 2025, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) filed safety recall 25V514.  This recall covers certain MY 2014 and all MY 2015-2017 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles.  The remedy for recall 25V514 addresses knuckles with and without a visible fracture.  Knuckles that have developed a visible fracture will be replaced with a new knuckle of a substantially similar design.  Knuckles with no fracture visibly present will have a brace attached to the upper portion of the front steering knuckle.  JLR states that the purpose of the brace is to prevent the component from completely separating should a fracture develop. NHTSA continues to receive allegations of fractures occurring in the front steering knuckles of Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles.  Two of the most recent VOQs received by ODI involve front steering knuckle fractures occurring on MY 2020 and MY 2021 Range Rover L405 vehicles.  ODI will continue to investigate the component design and assess the potential safety risk as part of this Engineering Analysis and evaluate the recall remedies for Recall 25V514.  Further, the scope of this Engineering Analysis will be expanded to include MY 2018-2022 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles as they have a substantially similar component design. THE 2018 RANGE ROVER SPORT HAS NO FAILSAFE IN THE SOFT CLOSE DOOR MECHANISM; I FOUND THIS OUT THE HARD WAY. AS LONG AS THE LATCH CATCHES, THE SOFT CLOSE WILL ENGAGE. I WAS EXITING MY STATIONARY VEHICLE WHEN A GUST OF WIND HIT THE DOOR. MY HAND WAS STILL ON THE EDGE OF THE DOOR WHEN THE LATCH FOR THE SOFT CLOSE HIT. MY THUMB WAS CRUSHED BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE FRAME. I FORCED MY THUMB OUT WHILE THE DOOR CONTINUED TO TIGHTEN UNTIL FULLY CLOSED. IT'S BEEN NEARLY A MONTH AND MY THUMB IS STILL PURPLE. IF THE CAR WOULD HAVE SENSED MY THUMB IN BETWEEN THE DOOR AND FRAME, AND STOPPED THE SOFT CLOSE, I COULD HAVE EASILY REMOVED MY FINGER WITH NO INJURY. INSTEAD, I SPENT THE NEXT 2 HOURS AT THE

Unfortunately I really have no idea what caused the problem . But While driving on the highway ( in traffic ) going approx 40 Mph . my vehicle had a low coolant light come on. Within 5 min of the light coming on the vehicle made a loud fast ticking like noise so I pulled off the road 1 half mile from my exit . Before I could even stop the vehicle fully . the cars hood had smoke and flames coming out . The flames got to at least 10 feet in the air … Within 15 min the front of the vehicle was burned to the ground . Police and fire arrived just under 15 min and were able to put the fire out . I have videos of the vehicle as I ran for safety . I had no none problems with this vehicle prior to

I recently noticed rust forming on both sides of the fuel tank support shields. The manual says that these shields are directly connected to the fuel tanks and that if rust develops further then the tanks could fall.

Coolant leak due to poorly made plastic part above the supercharger. High risk of fire and overheating due to land rover's poor design. OEM unwilling to help.

ENGINE
The engine coolant pipe cross over on top of the engine and the the one in the rear are made of plastic and is a known failure point. One simple search and it is known that its a super common problem that should be recalled and fixed. This is an engineering oversight and cost the car owner over $3000 in repairs if they are lucky to catch it before it destroys the engine.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a prolonged and troubling service experience at Jaguar Land Rover Buckhead, related to my 2018 Range Rover Sport (approximately 49,000 miles), and to express dissatisfaction with the handling of a prior related incident. My vehicle has been the dealership approx. 2 weeks with no loaner and me missing days from work and not able to transport my children to school. For past context, In 2023, I experienced a faulty ground stud issue that left me stranded on the highway during my morning commute. I later learned this exact issue had been subject to a recall on the Discovery model — but not on mine — despite identical symptoms. As a result, I

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
