ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL

23V393000 · June 1, 2023

The defect
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2017-2020 Land Rover Discovery vehicles. The UniLatch Keyless Vehicle (KV) entry function may fail to properly latch the rear passenger doors, which can result in the doors opening while driving. In addition, the instrument cluster open-door warning light may fail to alert the driver of this condition.
The risk
Rear passenger doors that open while driving can increase the risk of a crash. An instrument cluster warning light that fails to alert the driver about unsecured doors can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
The remedy
Dealers will disable the UniLatch Keyless Vehicle (KV) entry function, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 26, 2023. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N798.

The defect
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC. (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery, and Range Rover Velar vehicles. The Auto High Beam (AHB) system does not indicate through the instrument cluster when the high beams are illuminated automatically. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk
The driver may be unaware that the high beams are illuminated, reducing visibility for oncoming traffic, and increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. The recall began April 7, 2021. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N556.

20V143000 · March 12, 2020

The defect

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
WindSheild Leaking. We bought the car in 2019 some time in October. The car had a recall in 2022 for windshield leak we had rains and we saw leakage from the front wind screen. The dealer took the car in for a few days and fixed all of it. Now coming to 2026 - we see the same issue. I know its been 7 yrs but this seems to be a defect which was not fixed properly the 1st time when we bought the car. We went to the dealer and they said this cannot be covered under warranty. There are many customer complaints on the same issue if you google on the internet.

STRUCTURE:BODY
This vehicle has an active water intrusion from the headliner above the windshield due to windshield bonding and body seal failure. Water is dripping down and entering the dashboard area and shorting electrical control modules behind the media/glove box and media console. Each time the media/glove box is opened, the HVAC system shorts and forces the defrost system to activate involuntarily. The vehicle also exhibits Park Brake Fault warnings, delayed and intermittent no-start conditions, brake fluid loss, and electrical instability. This is an active electrical short inside federally regulated safety systems, making the vehicle unsafe to operate. The defect is progressive and continues to

STRUCTURE:BODY
Water began leaking into car from front windshield while driving on 11/25/2025. Air whistling noises present also. Safety risk of injury from windshield failure. Repair person says risk for windshield coming off when driving or if involved in collision. Possibly related to recall N221 Land Rover Discovery SE 2018. Had Koch 33 perform assessment and they reproduced water and air leak and determined windshield is loose and not adhered. Erie Insurance says not covered and it is "wear and tear." No warning lamps or other symptoms prior to failure. Fearful of windshield coming loose/off if involved in crash and fearful that the water may be affecting the electrical system of internal lights and

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Vehicle is leaking water from A pillars and it is damaging the vehicles electrical systems. Humidity build up and mildew from the entry of water after a down pour caused mold to build up throughout the entire floor board. Dealer ship needs to address these issues and have a complementary inspection/service to resolve this matter. This can lead to electrical problems and airbag inoperative issues. To conclude this can total the owners vehicle since the fuses sit by the A pillar. Water entry will also cause corrosion to vehicle cause damage and jeopardizing the integrity of the vehicle structure.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
My 2018 Land Rover Discovery started leaking water from the top of the front windshield any time it rained. The water intruded on the interior of the vehicle including, interior windshield, electronics mounted toward the top middle of the windshield, dashboard, seats, and electronics/buttons/controllers on the center console. The vehicle also made a loud "whistling noise" when driven due to an obvious issue with the windshield. I brought the car to the dealer on 1/7/2025. They verified the issue as an ongoing problem with Land Rover windshields leaking, stating many have shorted out the electronic systems on the vehicles due to water damage. They refused to take responsibility for the issue

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
