The defect
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Rogue and 2017-2022 Rogue Sport vehicles equipped with a jackknife style ignition key. The jackknife key may collapse into a folded position while driving.
The risk
Driver contact with a key in the collapsed position could inadvertently shut off the vehicle while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, if the vehicle shuts off while driving, the air bags may not deploy in a crash as intended, increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy
Dealers will insert a spacer into the key slot of the jackknife key, free of charge. Interim notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed March 29, 2023. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 30, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R22C5.

The defect
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Nissan Altima, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Leaf, Maxima, Murano, NV, NV200, Pathfinder, Rogue, Rogue Sport, Sentra, Titan, Titan Diesel, Versa Note and Versa Sedan vehicles, as well as Infiniti Q50, Q60, QX30 and QX80 vehicles. Additionally included are 2019 Nissan GT-R and Taxi and Infiniti QX50, QX60, Q70, Q70L vehicles. The back-up camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rear view image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
The risk
The lack of an image in the back-up camera display increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Nissan will notify owners in phases, having dealers update the back-up camera settings software, free of charge. The recall began November 11, 2019 and all affected VINs should be activated. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 or INFINITI customer service at 1-800-662-6200.

I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A MAIN STREET AT ABOUT 30 MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY IT STOPPED HARD. THE IMPACT OF THE STOP MADE ME HIT MY CHEST AGAINST THE STIRRING WHEEL.. NOW I HAVE A PAINFUL ACHE ON MY CHEST AND BACK..MY BODY FEELS VERY SORE FROM THIS SUDDEN IMPACT. THE CAR IIS NEW! THESE TYPE OF INCIDENTS SHOULD NOT BE PART OF OUR DRIVING EXPERIENCE, AT ALL!

The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, there was a burning odor inside the vehicle. After, turning off the vehicle antifreeze started leaking from the radiator. After restarting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the thermostat and radiator fan were faulty and needed to be replaced. The thermostat was replaced but the failure persisted due to the faulty fan. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,000.

My son financed a nissan rogue sport in Aug of 2023. He was in an accident in Nov of 2023. I have not spoken to him since. He spoke with some of my family members, told them the accident was his fault and he doesn't understand what happened. He said he just lost control while driving. I'm thinking it was the key fob, he's a very tall boy and the crash could have been a result of hitting the key fob while driving. I'm hoping there is a way to find that out. The dealership we got the car from Wjk Tempe Dodge. 7975 S Autoplex Loop Tempe AZ 85284-1023. I tried calling them to get some info but got no responses. The vehicle is totaled and sits on the side of my home with a tarp over it. It has

POWER TRAIN
Throwing code P0841. RPM’s bouncing, slow to accelerate, enters limp mode. Dangerous when on the road as the car is not properly accelerating with the flow of traffic and could potentially stall out in the middle of the road. Will need either the valve body replaced or an entire transmission replacement. After a lot of research, this is an EXTREMELY common problem with this CVT transmission and I feel it should actually be addressed by Nissan instead of customers continually having to shell out thousands of dollars in repairs of a transmission they know fails. This car doesn’t even have 100K miles on it.

POWER TRAIN
On April 2, 2026, I was operating my 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport (Mileage: 45,905) at approximately 30 mph when a sudden surge occurred in the engine compartment. Despite depressing the accelerator, the vehicle lost all forward propulsion. I managed to coast through my development and into my garage. Upon arrival, all dashboard warning lights illuminated simultaneously, at which point I immediately deactivated the engine. After exiting the vehicle, I observed a total loss of transmission fluid onto the garage floor. The vehicle was towed to Naples Nissan, where technicians confirmed a catastrophic CVT failure. Prior to this event, the vehicle exhibited no symptoms of mechanical

Radiator fan leading to engine overheating, fan fails to turn on causing high engine temperatures & AC failure. Nissan is aware of issues & takes no responsibility. Early on when vehicle experienced symptoms & under warranty, I brought vehicle in several times & was told they couldn’t find anything wrong. Since warranty has expired, we’ve had to fix once & now it’s happening again. Some symptoms: loud rattling in engine bay, AC blows hot air while idling & low speeds, engine overheating & stalling.

ENGINE
In October of 2025 my car stalled in slow traffic after a 100 mile car ride. After 20 minutes, it started again. The engine code was P0507. Two weeks later, without warning as I was accelerating on the highway the car stopped in the middle lane. This was incredibly dangerous. I had to wait 30 minutes in busy am traffic for a police escort. And the event was costly as I had to pay $200 to be towed off the highway. Once the car arrived at the service center, it started again. The mechanic convinced me to replace the purge solenoid as a starting place to address the problem. The car ran normally from November to March. In March 2026, after almost two hours in stop and go traffic, the car

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
The transmission failed on my 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport. I was driving down the road and my car started to jerk and go faster and then slower while I was driving down the road at 55 miles per hour. I could not control the speed or the smoothness of the car operation. I had no warning light or any indication that this was about to happen. The warning light came on much later when I was at home. This is a problem that Nissan is well aware of and has done nothing to inform customers or mitigate the damage (in my case $6,599.40). There are many class-action lawsuits, but the one covering this car has already ended as on January 1, 2029. This problem tends to occur at about 80,000 miles, so I am

Radiator cooling fan failed at 43,819 miles. Cost to repair was $554.95. Web search revealed that many others are experiencing this failure at ~40K miles on the Nissan Rogue Sport models. It seems like it should be a recall/reimbursement issue.

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
