VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

crash · towed

While I was parking in the lot, the vehicle nearly came to a stop when it abruptly accelerated on its own. My foot was firmly planted on the brake, a standard practice at the end of the parking process. The sudden acceleration made it impossible to regain control, resulting in a collision with the parking lot sign and a small tree. I took decisive action to steer the vehicle away from the glass door of the building in front of me, but it ultimately struck the building wall to my right. This incident highlights serious safety issues, specifically Sudden Unintended Acceleration (SUA) and a failure of the Collision Avoidance Assist safety technology.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
On December 1, 2025 the car gave a series of messages on the screen indicating that there was an issue with the electrical system. I was within a mile of home and so drove home because it was operating normally at first. Driving home the car went into a limp mode and could only go very slowly 15-20 mph probably). The car was towed from my house on 12/1/2025. The issue turned out to be a bad Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). The car was fixed on 12/16/2025. I just wanted to make sure this failure was counted .

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
On March 1, 2026, while driving at normal roadway speed on a double yellow-lined road, my 2024 Genesis GV60 Advance displayed a "Check Electric Vehicle System" warning. With less than one minute of the warning appearing, the vehicle lost propulsion and rolled to a stop. I was able to steer into a parking lot, but I was stranded miles from home. There was minimal advance warning before complete loss of drive power. The vehicle could not be driven and required towing. The vehicle previously had the ICCU recall campaign marked as complete on January 3, 2025. Despite that prior recall remedy, the vehicle experienced sudden loss of propulsion. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for

NHTSA complaint 11721954, quoted in part. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Electrical failure. Car was stuck in neutral on a hill with houses behind. Could not put in park, apply hazard light, or apply emergency brake. Could not exit the car safely due the fact if you took your foot of the brake the car would roll backward down hill uncontrolled. Steering was very stiff or locked so is was impossible to direct car to safe spot at the bottom of the hill. Have video documentation.

NHTSA complaint 11710890. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

POWER TRAIN
During a routine left hand turn at low speed (~10-15MPH), the vehicle engaged emergency braking. The dashboard indicated emergency braking was enabled. There were no objects in the vehicle's path. Acceleration was not possible during the event. Because the braking was unexpected and unintentional, the vehicle behind nearly collided with me.

NHTSA complaint 11707781. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Last year there was a recall associated with this vehicle due to the ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit). Two visits to the dealership were required to resolve the issue (November and December 2024). My vehicle was running properly until 11/17/25 PM when while freeway driving home I experienced a power failure that prompted me to immediately pull over to check the power circuit. My vehicle lost power, going from 65 mph to the 40's, and later the 20's. I was fortunately able to exit the freeway without incident and limped into a nearby dealership after hours where I left my car for repair. I suspect this may be another issue with the ICCU. I am still waiting on the dealership's

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
