ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:CRANKCASE (PCV)

26V270000 · April 28, 2026

The defect
Harley-Davidson Motor Company (Harley-Davidson) is recalling certain 2024-2026 FLTRX, FLHX, 2025-2026 FXBR, FLFB, 2025 FLHXU, 2026 FLTRXL, FLTRT, FLHXL, and FLHLT motorcycles built with an Airbox Baseplate (part number 29000373). The airbox backplate breather port may be blocked, allowing pressure to build up inside the crankcase.
The risk
When the dipstick is removed while the crankcase is pressurized, oil may eject from the fill spout, increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy
Dealers will inspect the breather port, and if the port is blocked, repair the blockage, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 14, 2026. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov April 16, 2025. In owners' own words

Quoted from NHTSA's complaint file. These are unverified accounts by the people who filed them, not findings of fault.

POWER TRAIN
The motorcycle powertrain loses power while traveling at speed without warning. The engine lights come on when the power leaves the powertrain, and I have to coast to a safe location. Recently, it happened while on a road trip to Tennessee on the interstate and I had to maneuver through traffic, coasting to get to the shoulder of the road and nearly had an accident due to loss of power. The Bumpus HD dealership technician in Tennessee rode the bike and it lost power while he was riding but he could not determine the cause of the loss of power. As a result of not locating the source of the loss of power, I had to have the bike trailered from Tennessee to Maryland.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The Skyline OS on the infotainment system frequently resets and goes entirely black during rides. This is a known software problem that Harley does not seem to be able to fix. It means that in the middle of a ride, you lose your speedometer and don’t know how fast you are going. The system takes several minutes to reset.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
On multiple occasions the instrument panel on the dash has gone off sometimes it comes back on in seconds and sometimes it takes minutes. On occasion it has gone black leaving me without a speedometer or gas gage. You must pull over shut the bike off let it "reboot", this has been on going since buying the bike new in January 2024. I feel this is the reason for the charging cord in the front right glove box to have melted while on a trip. I learned when the cord was replaced that it runs directly to the head unit so there is no fuse on this electrical cord.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The digital display on the bike sometimes reboots or go out completely while riding. the rider (me) is unable to tell the speed of travel or if safety features like the turn signals are working and the motor has shut off too at highway speeds sometimes when this happens almost causing me to crash. very very dangerous. I have reached out to Harley Davidson they are not taking this complaint serious. I have heard of other bike having the same issue. My bike is available for inspection upon request.

NHTSA complaint 11668052. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Zip tie on electrical wiring leading to the vehicles ECU. Wires are unprotected and if zip tie rubs through could create an electrical failure resulting in a potential accident due to loss of electrical and mechanical power.

NHTSA complaint 11661400. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
While driving on Interstate at 70 MPH the motorcycle died after it had already been in the shop to fix issue. I was told issue was a failed update. Once I received the bike back I rode for 3 days before lights started flashing and then in the middle of a ride it lost all power and then gained it back 3 times before dyeing completely on the interstate. The check engine light, battery light and warning light all came on. As this is a driver in Houston TX, power dying on these roads unexpectedly can cause accidents that on a motorcycle can kill me or the driver of another vehicle. After pulling fuse I was able to get started and get it back to dealership. Found multiple people with same issue

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
