STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS

22V430000 · June 16, 2022

The defect
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2006-2014 Ridgeline vehicles that were sold, or ever registered in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin. An accumulation of road salt may cause the frame mounting surface, where the fuel tank mounting bands are attached, to corrode and possibly detach the fuel tank, which can result in a fuel leak.
The risk
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
The remedy
Dealers will inspect and repair the rear frame, as necessary, free of charge. Depending on the extent of any corrosion damage, Honda may offer to repurchase the vehicle. Owner notification letters were mailed August 9, 2022. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is LCD.

I AM REPORTING UNWANTED, EXCESSIVE ACCELERATION FOR MY 2010 HONDA RIDGELINE. AFTER TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT, I WAS EASING INTO MY DESIRED PARKING SPACE AND, SINCE THERE WAS A SLIGHT INCLINE, I LIGHTLY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO INCH FURTHER INTO THE SPACE. ALL OF A SUDDEN, TO MY SURPRISE AND WITHOUT AN OPPORTUNITY TO REACT, THE TRUCK ACCELERATED GREATLY, PROPELLING ITSELF OVER A 5 INCH CURB, PAST TWO FEET OF SPACE, AND THROUGH THE WALL OF A BUILDING. THE FORCE OF THE SUDDEN IMPACT WAS SO GREAT THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, THE HOOD WAS BENT AND THE FRONT BUMPER WAS DAMAGED - ALSO PUNCHING A 3 FOOT WIDE HOLE INTO THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING, EXPOSING ITS INTERIOR. *TR

I BACKED MY 2010 HONDA RIDGELINE OUT OF MY GARAGE. IT WAS A LITTLE TOO CLOSE TO MY BASKETBALL HOOP SO I PUT IT IN DRIVE TO PULL FORWARD. THE TRUCK TOOK OFF LIKE A JET AND ACCELERATED ABOUT 20 FEET FORWARD UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO MY GARAGE. I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED DOWN AND MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE AND THE BRAKE WAS COMPLETELY PRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK ACCELERATED BY ITSELF. I AM THANKFUL NOBODY GOT HURT. IT DID A NUMBER ON THE RIDGELINE AND MY GARAGE. A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAPPENED ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO IN THE BEST BUY PARKING LOT. I PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE AND IT JUST TOOK OFF WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOBODY BEHIND ME AND THE BRAKE FINALLY TOOK HOLD. HONDA

When applying the brake, the vehicle suddenly accelerated unintentionally and hit the car in the opposing parking space. I stood on the brake harder when I sensed the vehicle lurching forward. After I struck the opposing car, I confirmed that my foot was on the brake and not touching the accelerator. Also, oddly the vehicle immediately stopped running and I noticed the car was in Reverse. I took pictures and video immediately after the incident both inside the car and outside before I touched anything. I then put the car in Park, started the car, and backed it up. I inspected both cars for damage and did
