AIR BAGS

14V395000 · July 1, 2014

The defect
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 LR2 and 2012-2013 Range Rover Evoque vehicles. A component within the Occupant Classification System (OCS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may fail, resulting in the front seat passenger air bag being totally or partially disabled.
The risk
In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, if the air bag is disabled, the air bag may not deploy or may not deploy properly, increasing the risk of injury to the front seat passenger.
The remedy
Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the Restraint Control Module software, free of charge. The recall began on August 30, 2014. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is P046.

The defect
LAND ROVER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 LR2 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM NOVEMBER 12, 2009, THROUGH AUGUST 23, 2010. THE SHORTING BAR IN THE CLOCK SPRING MAY BECOME DISCONNECTED WHEN THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MODULE CONNECTOR IS INSTALLED.
The risk
THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY AS INTENDED OR AT ALL AND THEREFORE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY PROTECT THE DRIVER, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY.
The remedy
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A SPACER INTO THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING HARNESS CONNECTOR. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 13, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT LAND ROVER AT 800-637-6837.

POWER TRAIN
WHEN DRIVING FEELS LIKE THE CAR GET IN TO NEUTRAL SUDDENLY THE REVOLUTIONS GET ALL THE WAY UP AND THE CAR DOES NOT ADVACE, DOES NOT RUN NORMAL UNTIL I DO MANUALLY CHANGE GEARS. MY SETTINGS ARE TO JUST DO MANUALLY WHEN THE CAR IS IN " S". THE CHECK ENGINE TURN ON. THIS STARTED LAST WEEK 03/05/2025 WHEN INSPECTED THE FAILURE SHOWS AS ERROR AS TURBO P0299

Has not been inspected by manufacturer, reference NHTSA campaign number 21V635. No warning lamps, just started leaking within the last month.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

POWER TRAIN

70,400 miles

RECENTLY BEGAN HEARING A NOISE FROM THE REAR WHEN DRIVING. THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE FROM THE REAR ALIGNMENT CAUSING THE TIRE TREAD TO MAKE THIS SOUND. DRIVING FASTER THE NOISE WOULD GET LOUDER. TOOK TO MY MECHANIC FOR ALIGNMENT AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL GOING OUT. THE BEARINGS WERE MAKING THE LOUD NOISE. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 70,400 MILES AND IS DRIVEN 10 MILES A DAY AND NEVER OFF ROAD. LOOKED FOR ANY RECALL NOTICE I MAY HAVE MISSED AND THEN DISCOVERED THIS SAME SITUATION FROM SEVERAL OTHERS. I ENTERED MY VIN TO CHECK FOR ANY RECALLS AND THERE ARE NONE! SURELY THIS VEHICLE WAS BUILT TO BETTER SPECS. FOR THIS TO FAIL SO EARLY IN THE LIFE (MILEAGE) OF THE VEHICLE IS UNACCEPTABLE

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
