COMMUNICATION

19V787000 · November 1, 2019

The defect
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2013-2017 vehicles due to a software fault that may cause the date and time for the emergency call system (eCall) to differ from the actual date and time, potentially relaying an inaccurate vehicle location. For a full list of the affected models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2019/RMISC-19V787-4620.pdf
The risk
An inaccurate vehicle location may delay emergency responders, increasing the risk of injury.

MBUSA will also notify owners, and dealers will check software for a successful OTA or update the communication module software as needed, free of charge. The recall began December 23, 2019. The risk
The leaking oil in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
The remedy
MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will correct the oil level as necessary and replace the reservoir sealing cap to prevent oil foam from leaking out, free of charge. HIT IN THE HEAD IN APRIL 2015 BY SUV REAR POWER LIFT GATE CAUSING TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY. DESIGN FLAW IN MOST SUV REAR LIFT GATE. I BELIEVE CHRYSLER HAS ONE THAT BEEPS WHEN LIFT GATE IS LOWERING BUT OTHERS DO NOT. ALSO THEY SHOULD BE DESIGNED LIKE GARAGE DOORS IN THAT A SENSOR CAN STOP PROGRESSION OF DOWNWARD MOVEMENT WHEN TAILGATES LOWERS THERE BY STOPPING ANY FURTHER INJURY TO INDIVIDUALS - ESPECIALLY OLDER INDIVIDUALS AND CHILDREN.

I WAS IN A COLLISION IN WHICH I REAR ENDED ANOTHER SUV. THE SPEED CONTROL DID NOT ENABLE AND I HIT THE OTHER VEHICLE HARD ENOUGH TO CAUSE $20,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO MY CAR. I BELIEVE THE CAR BRAKING RESPONSE WAS SLOW AND THE AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED IN A CRASH THAT SIGNIFICANT, BUT IT DID NOT.

Traveling on my way home from Arizona and as my back was hurting turned on heated seats…I also had air conditioning running due to dogs in back seat…I started noticing what felt like a pinching sensation where my butt and legs meet…Stopped thr car at next rest area and noticed butt really hurt when I slid out of car…felt back there and area and hurt like heck..got into my Rv that a friend was driving and looked at it!! 2nd degree blisters/burns from heated seats!! I thought “what the heck?”as I didn’t have any marks on the seat!! Clearly the temperature spiked and causes the burns!’ I looked it up and see that MB has had a long history of this…and major litigation. But no recall!! I have

SERVICE BRAKES
It seems that this vehicle was not included in a brake booster recall which included this model from 2005 through 2015. The brakes are not working properly, and brake fluid has entered the master brake cylinder damaging the seal. It is extremely unsafe to operate this vehicle in this condition. Somehow, this vehicle was not included in the recall, but definitely should have been.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
As we were driving 50mph, the car stalled and lost all power. The dashboard lights all lit up and the car wouldn't start. I don't get unnerved easily and it was fairly intense not being able to move your car out of traffic. After about 5 mins, the car would start again only to stop a minute or so later. After taking the car to the dealer, the issue stemmed from the fuel pump electronics board getting wet in the spare tire wheel well where water was accumulating. This was part of the recall and the dealer installed a drain and replaced the board. HOWEVER, this issue again happened nearly one year later in our next rainy season. After taking it to the dealer, they said WE would need to

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Vehicle: 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML350 VIN: [XXX] I have experienced repeated failures of the Blind Spot Assist / driver-assist system since purchasing this vehicle. When I first purchased the ML350 in Texas, the vehicle already showed warning messages (“Blind Spot Assist Inoperative / Pre-Safe Function Limited”). The dealer attempted repairs before delivery, but the defect persisted. After moving to New York, the problem continued. On June 26, 2023, I took the vehicle to The Automaster Mercedes-Benz in Shelburne, VT. Their diagnosis confirmed water intrusion into the blind spot radar sensors, consistent with Mercedes-Benz TSB LI54.71-P-056477. Both left and right sensors and wiring require

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
