The defect
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Genesis, 2017-2019 Genesis G80, Genesis G90, and 2019 Genesis G70 vehicles. Water may enter the starter solenoid and cause an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.
The risk
An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
The remedy
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will install a remedy relay kit in the engine junction box, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 15, 2024. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's numbers for this recall are 254(H) and 018G(G).

The defect
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Genesis and 2017-2020 Genesis G80 vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module could malfunction and short circuit.
The risk
An electrical short circuit inside the ABS module could cause an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.
The remedy
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the remedy is complete. Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ABS module fuse, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 6, 2021. Owners can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's numbers for this recall are 201 and 006G.

PARKING BRAKE:INDICATOR LIGHT

The defect
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2015-2016 Sonata and Genesis vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the warning light to indicate that the parking brake is applied may intermittently not illuminate in the dash due to corrosion in the switch.
The risk
If the parking brake indicator is not illuminated when the parking brake is applied, the driver may operate the vehicle with the parking brake partially engaged, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the parking brake switch, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 164.

The defect
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2015 Genesis sedans manufactured February 1, 2015, through May 20, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with a seven-inch TFT-LCD instrument cluster that may display an incorrect vehicle speed or may illuminate all of the warning lights or not illuminate a warning light that needs to be lit.
The risk
If the instrument cluster displays the vehicle speed or illuminates the warning lights incorrectly there would be an increased risk of a crash.
The remedy
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will update the instrument cluster software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on September 30, 2016. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 147.

The defect
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2015 Genesis vehicles manufactured March 3, 2014, to February 9, 2015, and equipped with Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 tires installed as original equipment. The affected tires may develop cracks in the tire sidewall, resulting in a loss of air.
The risk
Tire sidewall cracks could cause a rupture during use, resulting in a rapid air loss and loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the factory tires with tires of another brand, free of charge. The recall began February 19, 2016. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 138.

The defect
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2015 Genesis vehicles manufactured February 21, 2014, to January 24, 2015. Water may leak into the rear combination lamp assemblies and cause an incorrect gear display on the instrument panel or a delay in the engagement of the selected gear when the vehicle is shifted from Park to Reverse or Drive.
The risk
If the incorrect gear is being displayed, the vehicle may move in an unintended direction, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will apply pads to prevent water intrusion into the combination lamp housing, free of charge. The recall began on April 14, 2015. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 128.

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received eight Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) and eight Kia America, Inc. (Kia) Part 573 Recall Reports between 2016 and 2023. The combined 16 safety recalls all involve the antilock braking system (ABS) modules or Hydraulic Electronic Control Units (HECU) manufactured by the equipment supplier Mando. The Part 573 Recall Reports contain varying defect descriptions and differing remedy descriptions for the same or similar equipment supplied by Mando. Safety recalls included in this Audit Query (AQ) review include: Hyundai recalls 20V-520, 20V-543, 21V-161, 21V-160, 21V-303, 22V-056, 22V-810, and 23V-651. Kia recalls 16V-815, 20V-518, 20V-519, 21V-137, 21V-331, 22V-051, 22V-800, and 23V-652 The purpose of this AQ is to evaluate the timeliness and scoping of Hyundai and Kia’s defect decision making and adherence with reporting requirements; and understand the varying defect descriptions and remedies between these recalls.

After having repeat brake issues and bringing the brake issues to the attention of the authorized dealer: Steele Hyundai South Loop in Houston, TX. There was no resolution. I visited with the management of Steele Hyundai on March [XXX], 2023. I was in a car accident on March [XXX], 2023 where brake failure occurred. I took the vehicle to Firestone on March [XXX], 2023 for a full inspection. Firestone determined the brakes were not repaired properly. The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that the driver's side mirror failed to adjust properly to view the surroundings on the driver's side of the vehicle. The failure was causing issues and a need for chiropractic care due to the contact needing to manually turn and adjust to safely view oncoming traffic, which aggravated previous neck and back injuries. Starter wiring burned and caused a small, localized fire in the engine compartment of the vehicle. Replacement of the starter assembly along with related engine wiring harness is necessary for vehicle operation. After mechanic review, it was determined the vehicle will catch fire upon attempt to start the vehicle. The vehicle was parked near our home when the internal burning and subsequent small fire started. The problem was reported to our nearest Hyundai dealership and the car was evaluated by the dealership to confirm the above. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
UNKNOWN, The car lose electricity, shutting down by itself, when I press start engine, or when I shut down engine, recently car shuts off while I drive it on highway, it didn't start until I jump start it, also it shows lights of ABS, and brakes auto hold, cruise control not working.

I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. I had an over heating issue with the car in January of 2025. Took the car to an authorized dealership, and had the repair made.a month later a code appeared on my Dash it read “PSB “. I went to have my vehicles emission’s test and the car failed. I took the car to an authorized Hyundai dealer and they said its most likely the fuel pump module, but wouldn’t know til they examined it thoroughly. After they replaced the fuel pump p module they called me and said that the seat belt positioned went bad and it was explosive. Sunroof exploded outwards towards traffic while driving on highway. It caused a loud shot gun sound which cause occupations of our vehicle to panick none the less vehicles behind us got the shattered glass. No warning signs to even look for nor hear. Have called auto places all around us to no avail on getting it fixed. Isn't worth the insurance hike if we cannot even find someone to fix the problem. After research it seems this is a well known problem with a panoramic sunroof. Outside of warranty so we don't know what else to do.

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light or while the vehicle was in drive, the vehicle failed to move, and the engine shut off unexpectedly. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. To restart the vehicle, the driver had to shift the gear selector into park and then press the start button. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure or determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. STEERING
While driving approximately 35–40 mph, the steering wheel locked unexpectedly. My [XXX] child was in the vehicle at the time. I was nearly unable to control the vehicle, creating a serious risk of a crash or fatal injury. The vehicle has a long history of electrical problems including repeated battery failures and a prior transmission replacement. Due to the steering failure, the vehicle is unsafe to operate and has not been driven since the incident. No warning lights were observed prior to the steering failure.
