AIR BAGS

18V266000 · April 26, 2018

The defect
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback and Civic Type R vehicles. Driver and front passenger seatback pads sold as replacement service parts were made without slit openings for the seat-mounted side air bags. In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, the seatback pad would interfere and adversely affect air bag performance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection."
The risk
If the seat-mounted air bags cannot not deploy correctly in the event of a crash, there would be an increased risk of injury.
The remedy
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front seatback pads, free of charge. The recall began June 15, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is E1D, U1B, and X1C.

POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT

17V706000 · November 9, 2017

The defect
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2017 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe vehicles. The right halfshaft may have been improperly heat treated, reducing its strength.
The risk
The improper heat treatment can result in the halfshaft breaking, preventing the engine from moving the vehicle, and can allow a possible roll away situation if the parking brake is not engaged. This can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the halfshaft's serial number, replacing it as necessary and aligning the front wheels, free of charge. The recall began December 8, 2017. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is K0E.

I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT WHERE I THEN PROCEEDED TO PARK MY CAR INTO A PARKING SPOT. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. THE CAR ENDED UP HITTING THE BUILDING THAT WAS 2 FEET IN FRONT OF ME. THE CAR THEN REVERSED ON IT'S OWN AND CHARGED FORWARD TO HIT THE BUILDING AGAIN. THE SECOND TIME IT HIT THE BUILDING THE AIR BAG WENT OFF. I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE MANUALLY TO PREVENT IT FROM HITTING THE BUILDING. WHEN I DID THIS , THE CAR ACCELERATED BACKWARDS .

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
My car AC has been having issues as the driver side produces warmer air than the passenger side. Honda issued a 10 year extended warranty for two of the three AC components; the warranty covers only the compressor and condenser. My 2017 Honda Civic has roughly 64k miles on it and the AC evaporator needs to be replaced. The Honda dealership has responded that this would cost out of pocket to replace. Seeing as the extended warranty covers the other components but not the third related one I'm writing a formal complaint. My vehicle doesn't meet the minimum threshold of usage for the AC evaporator to fail having been in use for under 10 years and having about 64k miles on it.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while purchasing the vehicle, the contact became aware that the A/C was inoperable. Before purchasing the vehicle, the contact asked the dealer to replace the A/C condenser, and the component was replaced. The contact stated that three years later, the A/C compressor was replaced again, but the shaft seal was not replaced. The contact stated that on June 30, the evaporator failed, causing fumes to enter the A/C and there was bacteria trapped due to oil leaks from the shaft seal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with the failure of the evaporator, causing the oil from the shaft seal to leak into the

About one month ago, I noticed that the paint on my rear quarter panel (to the right of my rear window) was peeling. It continues to peel. My insurance will not cover the paint failure, as the adjuster stated that they "will not touch my car because there are several class action lawsuits again Honda for the paint on this specific model and color of white" '. I have contacted Honda and they stated that after looking up my VIN, there are no lawsuits or recalls associated with my specific VIN. I am at a loss because the paint looks like a paint failure - not as though something hit or scratched the paint and caused it to peel. I am looking for assistance for reimbursement or how to get this

STEERING
I just purchased a 2017 Honda Civic yesterday that seems to be experiencing issues similar to the electric power steering (EPS) malfunction involved in Honda’s EPS gearbox recall, even though my VIN is not included. The steering becomes stiff and jerky when trying to turn the wheel, particularly at higher speeds (especially on the highway) and when trying to slightly move the wheel to remain in the lanes. The condition occurs consistently and has made it difficult to maintain proper control of the vehicle, which is super concerning for me. This creates a safety risk because the steering does not respond smoothly or predictably. I purchased this car yesterday at around 75k miles, and I

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
