The defect
Volvo Car USA, LLC. (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2019-2024 S60 vehicles. The passenger air bag may not be secured properly, which can cause the air bag to deploy improperly.
The risk
An air bag that does not deploy properly in a crash increases the risk of injury.
The remedy
Dealers will inspect and tighten the bolts securing the passenger air bag, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 5, 2024. Owners may contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10254.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:FUSES AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS

The defect
Volvo Car USA, LLC (Volvo Car) is recalling certain 2019-2020 V90, XC60, S60, V60, V60CC, S90, V90CC, S90L, and XC90 vehicles. The low-pressure fuel pump can blow a fuse and fail.
The risk
Failure of the low-pressure fuel pump can cause a stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Dealers will replace the fuse, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 2, 2021. Owners may contact Volvo Car customer service at 1-888-458-1552. Volvo Car's number for this recall is R10100.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

The defect
Volvo Cars USA LLC (Volvo Cars) is recalling certain 2019-2020 S60, V60, V60 Cross Country, S90L, V90, V90 Cross Country, XC40, XC60, and XC90 vehicles. Due to a software/hardware incompatibility, the Automatic Emergency Brake (AEB) system may not detect obstacles and engage as intended.
The risk
If the automatic emergency braking system does not engage as intended, it can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Volvo will notify owners, and dealers will update the Active Safety Domain Master (ASDM) software, free of charge. The recall began April 9, 2020. Owners may contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo's number for this recall is R29998.

The defect
Volvo Car USA LLC (Volvo) is recalling certain 2019 S60 vehicles. The rear suspension toe link flange lock nuts may not have been properly tightened, possibly resulting in a sudden change in vehicle handling.
The risk
A sudden change in vehicle handling can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Volvo will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear toe link flange bolts and lock nuts, replacing them if necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 6, 2019. Owner's my contact Volvo Customer Service at 1-800-458-1552. Volvo's number for this recall is R19938.

NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after March 1, 2021.On January 27, 2023, NHTSA opened Defect Petition (DP) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On June 24, 2023 and as supplemented on June 25, 2023, the petitioner notified NHTSA he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition. Based on the petitioner's withdrawal, DP22-005 is closed. Closure of this DP does not represent a determination by NHTSA regarding the subject matter of the petition.

I was driving down our main road and I saw and smelled smoke coming out of the air vents, then a warning light came on my dashboard for my 12V battery I pulled over right away and opened the trunk and saw fire on the left-hand side. I attempted to extinguish the fire myself using soda, I was pulling clothing (2 shirts and napkins) out of the car and burned my hand We towed the car to Volvo and they are claiming it’s not their fault We have only had the car for 4 months And my husband could have died or worse if my child was in the back seat!

VISIBILITY/WIPER

WHILE DRIVING ON A SUNNY DAY I KEPT BEING BLINDED BY CHROME / MIRROR FINISH ELEMENTS SURROUNDING THE STEERING WHEEL. IT WASN'T HAPPENING ONLY FOR A MOMENT, MY EYES HURT AFTER DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. THAT IS VERY DISTRACTING AND AFFECTS DRIVER'S VISION! TO HIDE MY EYES FROM THE BLINDING LIGHT, I HAD TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL TO VERY UNCOMFORTABLE POSITION (WHAT STILL DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM) OR PRETTY MUCH COVER FLASHING SPOTS WITH MY HANDS. THAT CREATES A HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS EVERYTIME WHEN THE SUN IS OUT. I AM ATTACHING A PICTURE, BUT IT DOESN'T SHOW HOW HARSH ARE THESE LIGHTS ON HUMAN EYE. THAT NEEDS TO BE EXPERIENCED. SERVICE BRAKES

I was pulling into a parking spot in a strip mall parking lot. When I braked after turning into the parking spot, the brakes failed. The car moved forward and hit the Chevy Suburban parked in front of it and started to push it. The automatic collision avoidance system did not stop the car, either. The owner of the Suburban was in that vehicle and was able to put it in gear and move it out of the way. My car continued to move forward at the speed it had been going at when the brakes failed so apparently it was still accelerating. The car then ran into a concrete bollard, and that stopped the car. The control panel was completely blank and the car could not be restarted. The car incurred

VISIBILITY/WIPER
The crimping on the A/C hose from the firewall to the compressor failed and leaked all the freon from the system. This is a design flaw, the mounting location causes excess vibration in the hose leading to the crimping failure. There are countless forum posts and other complaints filed by owners of the same vehicle for the exact same A/C hose. This should be a recall from Volvo. It is a major safety issue for customers like me who live in a humid environment, without A/C the windshield can fog over and hinder visibility. I contacted Volvo Customer Care for reimbursement and was denied as my car was not under warranty. My car only has 40,000 miles on it and this part shouldnt fail in this

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The DIM (Driver Instrument Module) flickers intermittently and I have no idea when it's going to go out completely. It actually does go out and there's a solid white panel or colored lines, but it comes back in. This displays the speedometer & fuel. This is a safety issue. I would hate for this to go completely out while I am driving. I do not know the cause for the malfunction. However, per the Volvo tech; they're aware this is a reoccurring issue.

SEATS
Passenger seat was unbolted from floor during a service appointment and not secured when dealer returned vehicle to me. Passenger safety was at risk due to the seat rocking during acceleration and deceleration and in turns. The issue was confirmed by the dealer and has since been repaired. No warnings issued by vehicle. The dealer error occurred 10/16/24. It was corrected 10/17/24 after vehicle was returned to dealer. This was a result of dealer negligence.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
2019 Volvo S60 headlamp system malfunction alert headlights/foglights to blink or turn off when turning the vehicle at night. I keep my headlights on auto so they are on during the day and I have only seen the error at night

TIRES
Have there been complaints about the Pirelli tires with foam inlays falling apart because the foam comes unattached, then causing misalignment. Car becomes unsafe to drive as the tires start to disintegrate. My car started shaking so bad it became difficult to drive. Turned out foam inlay had become unattached which caused uneven wear and some tire disintegration along with the alignment getting out of whack. Tire size 235/40R19 96V pirelli p-zero - It happened with all four tires. Two in the front were relatively new and had less than 10000 miles on them
