Owners of the 2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid have filed 207 safety complaints with NHTSA between March 2022 and August 2026. The most complained-about system is the power train, named in 72 of them (35%). The typical failure was reported at 30,000 miles, the median across the 21 complaints that gave an odometer reading.

Complaints halved year on year: 22 in the twelve months to 2026-Q1, against 44 in the twelve before.

No recall campaign was matched to this year, make and model. That is not the same as a clean vehicle: recalls are issued against production ranges, and the only reliable check is your own VIN.

Unbearably loud ear piercing static from speakers. Unable to turn it off or lower volume. Volume controls didn’t work. Ears in major pain from the noise. I have video of the noise but don’t seem able to upload.

The contact owned a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low turbo boost and the reduced engine power warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that he pulled over into a gas station to turn off the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the warning lights were no longer illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that the VIN was not under a recall. The contact then stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH with a 16-foot trailer attached, there was burning rubber and plastic odor before flames were seen coming from underneath the vehicle. After the contact and his family exited the vehicle and moved

I turned on the truck and heard a loud crack followed by load static originating from the front passenger area. This was from the stereo speakers. My right ear endured a lasting and substantial amount of pain. I will estimate, based on measurements of SPL I've made as an engineer, that the crack was approximately 120dB.

As soon as I pressed the start button, an extremely loud and shrill sound came from every speaker. Horn also started blaring. All speakers continued to crackle, pop, and scream until I pressed the ignition button again and opened the drivers door. I was able to prevent it from happening again by removing fuse #28. My ears are still ringing 8 hours later and may have permanent hearing loss. This will absolutely destroy a child’s hearing.

ENGINE
Driving along I-15 in vegas. Ambient temp was 112 degrees F. Engine stopped, check engine light came on and a 'stop safely' indicator appeared. Had to have the truck towed from the interstate to a Ford dealership.

POWER TRAIN
I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission FAILS TO ENGAGE AT SLOW SPEEDS, THROTTLE WILL NOT RESPOND FOR UP TO 8 SECONDS This creates a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration or propulsion. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve problem. Ford technical information identifies axial movement of the CDF sleeve that can cause hydraulic-circuit leaks and harsh or delayed engagement and shifting. This condition can result in slipping, RPM

POWER TRAIN
Transmission shifts gears unresponsively when the clutch slips due to poor transmission design for the 10r80MHT which cause truck to either not accelerate at all, delayed acceleration, or a sudden lurching forward

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly did not engage when I turned a corner when in 2nd gear it disengaged and I coasted to side of road safely good thing there was no traffic. I then noticed that the transmission would slip (not hard just slightly 1st-5th gears). This has happened a few times especially when I first start moving. This is creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration or propulsion. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Vehicle in drive under normal daily driving conditions and vehicle suddenly lost power and stopped. Unable to restart vehicle and shifter is stuck in drive and does not shift to park. Similar to recall 22S43. According to dealership, they thought the issue occurred due to towing and assumed it was a electronic issue with the vehicle shifter. Prior to this incident, there was a strange type of kick back in the shifter but it never kicked out of gear though it seemed like it might. There were also warning dings that did not have any kind of message on the dash - it wasn't clear if this was tied to the shifter.

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
