The defect
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Bronco Sport and 2022-2026 Maverick vehicles. The front lower control arm ball joints may have been incorrectly installed or incorrectly repaired at the vehicle assembly plant, allowing the control arm to disconnect from the front wheel knuckle.
The risk
A detached control arm can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Dealers will inspect and repair the front lower control arm ball joints as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed June 4, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available. The defect
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2026 F-150, 2022-2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, Maverick, 2024-2026 Ranger, 2023-2026 F-600 SD, 2022-2027 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, and 2026 E-Transit vehicles. When towing a trailer, the integrated trailer module (ITRM) may lose communication with the vehicle, possibly causing a loss of brake and turn signal lights, or a loss of brake function. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk
Trailer lights or brakes that do not function can reduce the driver’s ability to control the trailer and decrease the trailers visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
The integrated trailer module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 25, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C10. Loss of Motive Power

RQ24014

Closed recall query · opened November 15, 2024 · closed October 10, 2025 · led to recall 25V019

the electrical system

On January 31, 2024, The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a Preliminary Evaluation (PE24002) to investigate loss of motive power allegations in model year (MY) 2021 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles. Consumers reported a loss of engine power accompanied by complete electrical system failure either while driving or after stopping at a traffic light or stop sign. The vehicles generally could not be restarted, and the incidents were commonly diagnosed by dealerships to a failed 12-Volt (12V) battery. On April 12, 2024, Ford issued safety recall 24V-267 covering 456,565 MY 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport and MY 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles. The recall addressed loss of motive power resulting from sudden degradation of the 12V battery during the drive cycle. The recall remedy consisted of software updates to the body control module and the powertrain control module. The updated software aimed to provide warning to consumers when the battery is failing and inhibit certain vehicle functions which can lead to loss of motive power incidents. Additionally, Ford removed the existing 12V Enhanced Flooded Battery (EFB) as both a service component for the subject vehicles and original equipment for newly built Bronco Sport vehicles (during MY 2024 production), replacing it with a more robust absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery. The same AGM battery had been incorporated into Ford Maverick production in late 2022. Following recall 24V-267, ODI received loss of motive power complaints in vehicles that had previously received Ford’s software-based remedy. Consumers reported that they did not receive warnings related to the 12V battery or the vehicle’s electrical system before the loss of power. On November 15, 2024, ODI opened Recall Query (RQ24014) to assess the effectiveness of the 24V-267 recall remedy. On January 19, 2025, Ford issued recall 25V-019 covering 272,817 MY 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and MY 2022-2023 Ford Maverick vehicles. The new recall addressed the same hazard as 24V-267 but required replacement of the existing 12V battery with an AGM battery as the remedy. Ford reported that following the opening of RQ24014, it evaluated several field-returned 12V batteries, and determined that EFBs produced by battery supplier Camel potentially contained internal manufacturing defects causing loss of motive power. Ford further concluded that the software updates provided in the 24V-267 recall remedy were unable to detect battery failures quickly enough to avoid loss of motive power. Vehicles previously within the scope of recall 24V-267, but outside of the scope of recall 25V-019, are equipped with EFBs produced by a different battery supplier (Clarios). When recall 25V-019 was issued, Ford had not identified any Clarios EFBs exhibiting the same failure mode as the Camel EFBs. In light of Ford’s recall action, ODI is closing this Recall Query. The agency will continue to monitor loss of motive power complaints in Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with Clarios EFBs and reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances. I was involved in an accident. During the accident none of the airbags deployed. The impact was so hard that it lifted the truck up off the ground and spinned us around 90 degrees. This resulted in the individuals seated on the passenger side of the truck to be thrown into the door fairly hard, with one passenger hitting her head on the window even with the seatbelt on. The point of impact was the drivers side back tire and bumper area.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that after she parked the vehicle, her daughter unlatched the rear passenger's seat belt; however, the shoulder strap that she had placed behind her was twisted and inadvertently retracted. The seat belt then seized while tightly wrapped around the contact's daughter's waist, causing her breathing difficulty. The contact had to cut the rear passenger's seat belt with a scissor to release her daughter. The contact's daughter sustained bruising on her stomach and waist; however, medical attention was not received. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. POWER TRAIN
I had stopped at an intersection and when I applied the gas, the truck stuttered a bit before going. It ran okay for less than a mile. I stopped at the next intersection and when I applied the gas, the truck shuttered, started to go then just stopped. It stayed running but didn't want to go. I was able to get it through the intersection but that was it. The message i am getting is powertrain malfunction/reduced power. When we put our diagnosis tool on it, we get code P0757.

STRUCTURE:BODY
The driver's side (left front) door failed at the check-arm attachment point inside the door assembly: the spot welds securing the check-arm reinforcement bracket to the inner door structure cracked and separated. The vehicle is a commercial fleet 2022 Ford Maverick XL SuperCrew with approx. 82,000 miles. The vehicle and failed component are available for inspection upon request. First symptoms were difficulty opening and closing the door with popping/cracking noises. No warning lamps or messages occurred; the failure is concealed inside the door. This is a safety risk because the check arm attachment supports the door's structure. The same weld separation on related vehicles has been

I am filing a formal safety defect complaint regarding a severe catastrophic transmission failure on my 2022 Ford Maverick ( 2.0L EcoBoost 8f35 8 speed transmission ) that poses an immediate safety hazard to occupants and sharing traffic. Upon inspection a heavy volume of metal shavings flakes were discovered also the code PO73D unable to engage in neutral came up. The safety risk of this specific failure is extreme because the vehicle is physically unable to respond to a neutral command the driver cannot clear or cut engine power to the drive wheels during an emergency mechanical malfunction or a potential unintended acceleration event. Furthermore because the metal debris the truck

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
