SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT

26V340000 · May 27, 2026

Do not drive until repaired

The defect
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Bronco Sport and 2022-2026 Maverick vehicles. The front lower control arm ball joints may have been incorrectly installed or incorrectly repaired at the vehicle assembly plant, allowing the control arm to disconnect from the front wheel knuckle.
The risk
A detached control arm can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the remedy is completed. Dealers will inspect and repair the front lower control arm ball joints as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed June 4, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S36. The defect
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2026 F-150, 2022-2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, Maverick, 2024-2026 Ranger, 2023-2026 F-600 SD, 2022-2027 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, and 2026 E-Transit vehicles. When towing a trailer, the integrated trailer module (ITRM) may lose communication with the vehicle, possibly causing a loss of brake and turn signal lights, or a loss of brake function. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk
Trailer lights or brakes that do not function can reduce the driver’s ability to control the trailer and decrease the trailers visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
The integrated trailer module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 25, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C10. STEERING

3 injured

While driving my 2024 Ford Maverick on a highway at approximately 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power to the front wheels while passing a slower-moving vehicle. This caused the truck to jerk and decelerate rapidly in the oncoming lane, forcing me to veer back into my original lane abruptly. In doing so, I narrowly avoided a head-on collision, but the sudden maneuver caused the driver behind me to swerve off the road to avoid a rear-end collision. As a result, that vehicle went into a ditch and struck a small embankment. Three people inside suffered injuries, one with a fractured wrist, another with whiplash, and the third sustained a concussion from the impact. Emergency crews responded

SERVICE BRAKES

crash · towed

Upon exiting my garage I always stop to close the door. My driveway has incline. I begin to roll back, hit the breaks several times with no engagement, begin pumping the brake pedal several times, no response. Continued to roll in reverse going across the street and hit neighbor's park car in their driveway. Police Officer noted that brake pedal was very low upon applying brakes and a hiss sound of like a vacuum or pressure lost. Reported a claim to insurance company. I never observed any indication of faults. Had truck toed to Greiner Ford to be inspected and or repaired. They said they could not find anything wrong with brake system or electronics. Since the incident I have reviewed by

AIR BAGS

crash · towed

On 01 February 2025, my 2024 Ford Maverick XLT was involved in a front-end collision where two critical safety systems failed: 1.Airbag System Failure: The airbags did not deploy despite a significant front-end impact. This component is still available for inspection upon request. 2.Forward Collision Sensor Malfunction: The front collision sensor system failed to detect the obstacle and did not engage automatic braking, which contributed to the severity of the crash. This system is also available for inspection. Safety Risk: Due to these failures, my wife was hit in the chest by the force of the impact, and our dog was thrown inside the vehicle. My wife may have sustained internal injuries

my daughter rear-ended another driver as she was entering a turn lane. Moments prior to the accident, she described what sounds like a brake booster failure. There was no indication the AEB system activated and only the airbag at her feet deployed. She hit the car in front of her at ~35 mph. 1. Brake system failure - yes, it is currently available for inspection 2. Car failed to stop and resulted in an accident. Luckily no-one was seriously injured. 3&4 car has not be examined by anyone, yet. Trying to figure out who best to look at the vehicle. 5 unknown

STEERING
When I turn left or right my steering-wheel, slowly at intersections, I hear a loud "click" sound inside my truck's cabin, so loud that I cannot realize where the sound comes out from. My steering performance is smooth, and I cannot feel anything wrong or any shaking, with the steering column. Just ONE loud click sound, every time when I turn slowly. This has been happening since October 2024. Thank you!

SUSPENSION
The contact owns a 2024 Ford Maverick. The contact received the recall notification letter for NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V340000 (Suspension); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact had no other means of transportation. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed neither the recall remedy nor a loaner vehicle was available. The contact was referred to another dealer. The contact called Crossroads Ford of Sumter (950 N Main St, Sumter, SC 29150), who confirmed no loaner vehicle was available. The manufacturer was contacted but was unable to confirm whether the dealers had loaner vehicles available. The contact had not experienced a failure.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
I have a Maverick (24 AWD XLT) and this issue has occurred twice. It happened on my vehicle the first time as I was trying to turn left, up an incline, with oncoming traffic - loss of acceleration. There was simultaneously a service light and power train malfunction message that went to my ford app. The vehicle had 5k miles on it. I took it immediate to the dealer. After testing they said the connection at the accelerator was loose (pigtail) and replaced. I just had the same failure occur yesterday (~22k miles) on my way home from work, except I lost acceleration on an inclined on-ramp trying to merge onto the highway. I had just slowed on the ramp to let a semi pass, and am thankful I

SERVICE BRAKES

crash

This is a supplemental filing to my existing NHTSA complaint #11715308. I am requesting that the Office of Defects Investigation open a formal Preliminary Evaluation into the 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid braking system. Since my original complaint, the following has occurred: Ford Motor Company denied my claim on April 2, 2026 through a three-sentence letter from a paralegal at Erskine Law PC in Michigan. The denial addressed none of the evidence submitted including repair orders, fault codes from Ford's own OASIS system, a recorded call proving warranty claim suppression, and a notarized sworn statement. The vehicle now has 107,982 miles. The ABS defect remains unrepaired after four attempts
