ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL

26V104000 · February 20, 2026

The defect
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2026 F-150, 2022-2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, Maverick, 2024-2026 Ranger, 2023-2026 F-600 SD, 2022-2027 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, and 2026 E-Transit vehicles. When towing a trailer, the integrated trailer module (ITRM) may lose communication with the vehicle, possibly causing a loss of brake and turn signal lights, or a loss of brake function. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk
Trailer lights or brakes that do not function can reduce the driver’s ability to control the trailer and decrease the trailers visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
The integrated trailer module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 25, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C10. The remedy
Dealers will replace the left and right rear axle shaft assemblies, free of charge. This is a phased recall. Ford owners will receive letters in multiple phases, beginning August 2025 through Winter 2025. Phase 1 will include 2023 F-150 model year vehicles. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

2 injured · crash · towed

I was attempting to leave a parking spot when while maneuvering the vehicle it suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated to a high speed into a tree. There is a police report and security video as the incident took place in a hospital parking lot. The truck is totaled and settled but insurance company not interested in liability. My wife and I were injured. I have no idea or explanation for the sudden acceleration. Nobody is investigating if there was a vehicle malfunction or not. I just want it documented somewhere in case it is happening a lot. The crash was violent and occurred from a near complete stop on a clear day with no distractions.

After operating the vehicle normally and backing into a parking space, I stopped the vehicle and selected Park, turned the vehicle off, and exited. Before the driver’s door was closed, the vehicle began to roll forward unexpectedly. I ran back to the vehicle and reentered it to regain control, with the driver’s door still open and the seatbelt not fastened. After stopping the vehicle, I selected Reverse, at which point the vehicle surged backward unexpectedly. The open driver’s door struck another vehicle and the driver, and my vehicle continued backward, colliding with a fence and then a tree. The vehicle did not behave as expected after Park was selected, creating a serious safety risk to

At approximately 6:20 PM on Friday, July 26, 2024 airbags exploded on a Ford F-150 while it was on the assembly line (Chassis Line 5) at Ford Motor Company's Dearborn Truck Plant (DTP). Two hourly employees, one of them in the driver's seat, were working on the truck at the time and both were sent to an area hospital for treatment. The line was stopped, but only for about 30-40 minutes. By 7 PM it was running again until the conclusion of our scheduled ten-hour day, which occurred at 4:30 AM. The truck could not be removed from the line where the explosion had happened, so it had to be run all the way to the end of Chassis Line 7, where it was pushed off. Employees were extremely angry, to

POWER TRAIN
Safety recall 25V512 has been open and unfulfilled for nearly a year. The dealer says parts are not available and cannot provide a date when they will be. I can’t believe Ford cannot get parts for a critical recall but can still produce over 1/2 million new trucks annually.

NHTSA complaint 11754646. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

SERVICE BRAKES
Purchased new vehicle May 2024 primarily for towing my recreational vehicle (2024 Ford F150 Pickup). June 2024 took vehicle to dealership indicating that I was intermittently getting a "Trailer Disconnect" warning while driving (loss of trailer brakes, lights etc.). Dealer indicated no issue found. Subsequently returned to dealership on 6 other occasions over 2 years after continuing to experience the failure. Replaced 7 pin connector on trailer and dealer has replaced the 7 pin on vehicle and Trailer Control Module (TCM) but problem persists. Early 2026 dealership performed a recall on TCM software - did not resolve the issue (vehicle intermittently indicates the trailer is disconnected

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH, the steering wheel locked up and the vehicle stalled, and it rolled across an intersection and then stopped. The vehicle failed to restart. The contact stated that a tow truck arrived, and the tow truck driver could not shift into drive (D), but the vehicle was towed from the scene. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.

The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NTHSA Campaign Number: 25V512000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

POWER TRAIN
While driving in Sport mode on an interstate, during descending downhill, the transmission started down shifting. At that time near the bottom of the hill was standing water on an area. It was suddenly like hitting the brakes & I hydroplaned, but luckily I never touched the brakes. The down shifting at the same time as hitting the water caused the vehicle to loose control of the road. Luckily I regained control by steering and did not wreck. There should be a safety warning on this issue or a correction in the vehicle down shifting

NHTSA complaint 11749840. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Almost all functions connected to the steering column quit working. I do not have working turn signals, high beams or wipers, unless the wipers are on high. None of the functions on the steering wheel work. It seems like a safety issue to not have functioning turn signals or properly finctioning wipers and high beams. No lamps or warnings.
