Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Escape, Lincoln Corsair, 2020-2024 Lincoln Aviator, and Explorer vehicles. The image on the center display may flip or invert, resulting in an incorrectly displayed rearview image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

After a rain the rear tail lights went out. Water is getting in the light and shorting out the lights. On line it is a known issue and Lincoln is handling it under warranty for 2024 - 2026 and listed as a safety issue. My 2022 is 3 weeks out of warranty and nothing is offered. The cost to correct over $2000 with no guarantee it won’t happen again.

Several problems have occurred, not sure if they are related or not. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. In my opinion as a retired mechanic the problem components might include transmission, torque converter, accelerator or any electrical components associated with these systems. There were no warning lamps or messages related to the situation before or since. The contact owns a 2022 Lincoln Corsair. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced severe, erratic shifting in all gears, transmission slippage, and hesitation. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was initially taken to an independent mechanic, where a transmission replacement was recommended. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where excessive metal debris was found inside the transmission, and it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and denied financial assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
