ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

towed · 1,889 miles

The contact owns a 2026 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35-40 MPH after charging the vehicle, an unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle automatically called Genesis Connected Services, which advised the contact to tow the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The Mobile App displayed Diagnostic Trouble Codes: P1AA700 and P1AAF00 for the electric battery management system. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was determined that the battery management system needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the repair was pending approval. The vehicle was not yet repaired.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
Component Focus: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING / VISIBILITY/WIPER/DEFROSTER (HVAC) Description of Safety Defect: My brand-new 2026 Genesis GV70 Turbo (under 5,000 miles) suffered a sudden, catastrophic cooling system and heater core failure while in operation. The vehicle has a severe design defect: it completely lacks a low-coolant fluid level sensor in the expansion reservoir. Because of this engineering omission, the vehicle dropped its coolant level completely below the minimum safety line and filled the enclosed passenger cabin with highly toxic, atomized ethylene glycol (antifreeze) chemical vapors through the HVAC vents without triggering a single dashboard warning light, chime, or error

NHTSA complaint 11756637, quoted in part. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

STEERING
While driving at 35mph on a straight section of road the warning sounded, the display said "steering wheel locked" and I could not turn the steering wheel for about 5 seconds, then it returned to normal operation. We bought the car new in July 2025. I found numerous posts on line describing similar or worse experiences. The dealership performed tests and could not determine a cause.

NHTSA complaint 11754710. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

POWER TRAIN
On XXX while driving at approximately 5mph in a parking lot my Genesis GV70 shifted from Drive to Park by itself causing the car and my wife and I to lurch forward and come to a stop! The car would not come out of Park and a warning came up after the fact saying to contact immediate service. My wife and I were in the car and there were no injuries. If this occurred at a higher rate of speed on a busy highway I cannot imagine what would have happened. I immediately called Genesis Road Assistance for a tow. The car was towed by flat bed to the dealer in [XXX], where I purchased the car, approximately 10 miles away where it sits today waiting for service. My wife and I are afraid to drive this

NHTSA complaint 11749808, quoted in part. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

SEATS
while driving the vehicle, the driver's seat moves to the furthest position, away from the steering wheel and pedals. The memory position or forward/back control does not work consistently to put the seat in a more comfortable seating position. This is a random occurrence that can happen several times a day everyday or once or twice every other month. It is unsafe during taking off from a light, as the seat moves back I can barely reach the accelerator. During braking, it's harder to apply pressure to the brake pedal. Also, my mirrors are harder to use because of the different seat position. I have an appointment coming up but it will have been well over a month since I told the service

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
2026 GV70, rattle onset at exactly 50 mph. Aero-induced (not road-surface dependent) Local dealer service department confirmed the same rattle on two other 2026 GV70s on the lot.

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
