The defect

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles. During production of the fuel lines, the lines may have been damaged, possibly resulting in a fuel leak.

The risk

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

The remedy

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel line assemblies, free of charge, unless previously repaired under recall 17V-045. The recall began January 15, 2019. Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Quattroporte and Ghibli, and 2017 Levante vehicles. Adjusting the front seats may cause the seat wiring harness to rub, possibly resulting in an electrical short.

The risk

An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire.

The remedy

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles, replacing the seat wiring harness, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 342.

The defect

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured June 1, 2013, to February 28, 2014. The affected vehicles, equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a monostable gear selector, may mislead owners about which gear the vehicle is in and may not adequately warn the driver when driver's door is opened and the vehicle is not in PARK, allowing them to exit the vehicle while the vehicle is still in gear.

The risk

Drivers thinking that their vehicle's transmission is in the PARK position may be struck by the vehicle and injured if they attempt to get out of the vehicle while the engine is running and the parking brake is not engaged.

The remedy

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update, free of charge. The remedy software is currently in development. Owners were mailed an interim notification on July 1, 2016. Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured February 1, 2013, to September 18, 2015. During the assembly process, the rear tie-rod to hub assembly attaching bolt may not have been properly tightened.

The risk

An improperly tightened rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly attaching bolt may allow the tie-rod to separate from the hub carrier, resulting in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the left and right rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly attaching bolts to verify that they are properly tightened, replacing the rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during July 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 303.

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured February 1, 2013, to November 30, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the driver-side floor mat anchor may break allowing the floor mat to move and get trapped between the accelerator pedal and the vehicle carpet.

The risk

If the floor mat moves and becomes trapped between the accelerator and the vehicle carpet, it may result in very high vehicle speeds, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.

The remedy

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side floor mat and possibly the accelerator pedal cover, free of charge. The recall began April 29, 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 301. Note: These vehicles are equipped with a brake override system. In the event a pedal is trapped, pushing on the brake pedal will brake the vehicle and enable the driver to slow and stop and turn off the vehicle.

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Quattroporte, and Ghibli vehicles manufactured July 23, 2014, to August 7, 2014. The fuel delivery hoses in the vehicles may have been improperly crimped.

The risk

The improper crimp can cause a fuel leak and, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.

The remedy

Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the entire fuel delivery line, free of charge. The recall began in October 2014. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 256.

The contact owns a 2014 Maserati Ghibli. The contact stated that on one occasion while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the motherboard control unit was defective due to an unlocated leak. The vehicle was then taken to an auto body shop where it was diagnosed that the failure cause was due to a leak near the front passenger’s side windshield frame that was not welded properly. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

The 2014 Maserati Ghibli with VIN number [XXX] has been experiencing significant wiring issues, which have resulted in the car shutting off unexpectedly while driving this is a danger to drivers because as the car shuts off steering the vehicle is almost impossible brakes barely work and the car just rolls until it stops manufacturer/dealer replicated the problem and fixed it for a whooping $5300 there were absolutely no warning lamps,error messages etc dealer states "engine injection wiring harness" and angolar speed sensor per dealer notes "the engine was intermittently loosing power. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer where a manufacturer recall was performed and the front driver's side mat and accelerator pedal were replaced; however, the contact stated that while driving, the front driver's side floor mat hooks failed. As a result, the front driver's side floor mat slipped underneath the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal and almost caused an accident. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the floor mat and hooks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. During a diagnostic performed at the Maserati dealership to repair parking brake failure, it was determined that the right strut tower/dome has a large crack. The vehicle has not been in any major accidents or driven over any potholes and it appears that this happened spontaneously. There were no warning lights to signal this issue. During the diagnostic it was also found that all 4 tires were bald, control arms needed to be replaced and the car was out of alignment. I have only driven the car approximately 7,000 miles since purchasing it used and the car was delivered with new tires and a flawless 150 point inspection from the dealer.
