POWER TRAIN:TRANSFER CASE (4-WHEEL DRIVE)

Do not drive until repaired

The defect
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2026 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, and GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles with four-wheel (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), and certain 2015-2020 Suburban, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Yukon, Yukon XL, and Tahoe vehicles. A component missing from the drivetrain transfer case may cause the front and/or rear wheels to lock up without warning to the driver.
The risk
Front or rear wheel lockup increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the remedy is completed. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transfer case assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 18, 2026. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223. GM's number for this recall is N262557620. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR/TONE RING

19V761000 · October 24, 2019

The defect
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
The risk
Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

I WAS HIT I ENTERED AN INTERSECTION BY A LARGE SEMI/GRAVEL TRUCK THAT I DID NOT SEE BECAUSE THERE WAS A SEMI ON THE OTHER SIDE CLOSER TO ME AND GOING SLOWER. IT HIT MY LEFT FRONT DRIVER SIDE HARD ENOUGH TO SPIN MY CAR ACROSS 2 LANES WITH A LOT OF DAMAGE. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HIT MY HEAD ALONG WITH OTHER BRUISING. I AM WORRIED THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE. I AM WORRIED THAT IF IT HAD BEEN CLOSER TO THE CAB I WOULD NOT BE ALIVE. *TR

POWER TRAIN
I recieved this message after bringing my 2019 Chevy Tahoe to the dealership today for regular maintenanceand to check out a slight noise coming from under my hood: Rotational noise in your engine compartment had to remove the belts to be able to isolate where the sound was coming from. The noise is coming from the camshaft inside your engine so we know that is going bad. He also noticed that the engine mounts are worn out, oil cooler lines leaks and water pump leaking. I have kept up all required/recommended maintenance on time and didnt have any reason to believe I needed anything more then belts replaced and fluids changed when I took my truck to the dealer. After recieving that message,

ENGINE
While driving, the engine started to shutter and run rough. Pulled over to check and see if everything was ok. When restarting engine it developed a ticking noise which got worse and worse. We then made an appointment at a transmission specialist to get it serviced. While driving there the engine started experiencing engine failure with loss of power and loud ticking noise. Diagnostic from trans shop showed issues with engine and cylinder 4 misfire detected. Yes, the vehicle can be inspected upon request. Safety was put at risk while driving when engine started to fail. Had to pull over and have towed. Independent service center has confirmed issues. Report in attachments. No warning lamps

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
