The defect
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5; 2021-2023 Buick Envision; and 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk
DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
The body control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2023. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N222386380. This recall expands previous recall number 22V-827.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
My instrument panel cluster went black while the vehicle remained operational. The speedometer, warning lights, warning chimes, PRNDL/gear display, and dashboard are all non-functional. We checked fuses and performed a battery reset. The issue remains unresolved. This creates a significant safety concern, as I have no access to vehicle speed, warning lights, a gear indicator, or safety alerts while driving. I am requesting that this issue be formally documented and investigated as a potential safety defect involving the instrument cluster/electrical system.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The OnStar Telematics Module has malfunctioned and is causing SAFETY FEATURES to malfunction. It is causing the following to occur to the vehicle: 1. The faulty module is causing the car to shut OFF UNEXPECTEDLY MID DRIVE. Losing control of the vehicle instantly. No steering, no gas, no brake, no gear change. THIS can cause a CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT at higher speeds on the highways. The battery is completely drained when technicians inspect it but the alternator is working properly. 2. Causes the vehicle’s safety features to malfunction and give alerts such as “Service Driver Assist”, “Lane Departure Unavailable”, “Forward Collision Assist Unavailable”, “Steering Control Unavailable Soon”. 3.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Telematics module drained my battery mid drive. Car shut off on highway. Module malfunctioned and caused safety features to malfunction. After communication with Dealership, OnStar, ultimately GM refuses to issue a recall on the module. This is a NATIONWIDE issue with GM Telematics Module. Warranty will not cover the module on any of these vehicles. Someone is going to sustain serious bodily injury or maybe even die eventually if this issue isn’t resolved. Dealerships are telling drivers it is ok to drive like this. My car shut off on me twice. I had to buy two new batteries because the module continues to suck the life out of them. Serious safety issue not only to self but unsuspecting

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I started the car. Backed out of my driveway. Put into drive. The car stalled I shifted to park tried to restart. It wouldn’t. At that point I tried to put car into neutral I couldn’t. There is no way to shift this car into neutral. ( I checked with service department at gmdealer). This alone is dangerous the car cannot be moved. Anyway the car was towed to a dealer who fixed it. It was th fuel pump power module. The dealer and tow truck driver both told me this happens at least 5 times a week. There is no recall on this. My biggest concern is I could be on any road going high speeds and this part can fail. This is a death trap. There was no warning lights or messages to be found. PLEASE

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
