A battery fire increases the risk of injury.
The remedy
Owners are advised to take the following interim steps: Set the Target Charge Level feature in their vehicle to limit the charge level to 90%, charge their vehicle more frequently, avoid depleting the battery to 70 miles range remaining, park outside after charging, and do not charge the vehicle indoors overnight. Defect investigations (1)

An investigation means NHTSA has decided a pattern is worth examining. A preliminary evaluation is often closed with no action; an engineering analysis is the stage that usually precedes a recall.

DP22005

Closed defect petition · opened January 27, 2023 · closed August 7, 2023 · led to recall 22V063000

the electrical system

NHTSA received a petition on or about July 18, 2022, requesting that Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the United States. The petition can be reviewed at NHTSA.gov under ODI Number 11486072. FMVSS 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 KG or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after March 1, 2021.On January 27, 2023, NHTSA opened Defect Petition (DP) 22-005 to evaluate the subject matter described in the petition. On June 24, 2023 and as supplemented on June 25, 2023, the petitioner notified NHTSA he was withdrawing his petition. The petitioner indicated that, based on his review of data, there is no justification for asserting potential benefits that could be derived from actions sought by my petition. Based on the petitioner's withdrawal, DP22-005 is closed. Closure of this DP does not represent a determination by NHTSA regarding the subject matter of the petition.

VISIBILITY/WIPER

crash

The principal defect involves the rear-view backup camera, which has repeatedly failed despite multiple repair attempts and three new cameras. I bought a used EUV on 12/14/24 with around 25000 miles and on 6/6/25 at 31730 miles it went in for the first attempt to fix the camera. In addition, other safety-related systems have also failed or have become unreliable, including the automatic windshield wipers, the lane-keeping/lane departure warning system, and the gap adjust function. Moreover, there is no warning chime if the seatbelts are not fastened. The sunroof was made to work on the second repair attempt; not a safety issue, but indicative of the systemic failures of the car. The vehicle

POWER TRAIN
Car was going into neutral unexpectedly with a message of "two gears selected". Very disorienting as with the one pedal driving mode I was expecting the car to slow and kept moving faster than expected. Luckily nothing happened as I jammed on my breaks. I was reversing towards a hill in my yard that leads to some woods Brought the car to the dealership, and they said the transmission control module failed after 3 years 9 months in service and ~48000 miles. Paid $2000 as it was not covered under warranty

NHTSA complaint 11756613. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
There have been reports of Electrical Problems including the driver side mirror. The mirror housing unit seems to have an electrical issue that is causing the housing unit to overheat and deform the housing unit plastic. This has been happening to my vehicle and I'm very concern that it could develop into something more serious. Contacted the dealer and GM already and they refuse any responsability

NHTSA complaint 11755041. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The front facing camera and the rear backup camera and the entire camera system is intermittent. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. You become a bit dependent on the backup camera and when it does not work & it causes undue stress especially if you are handicapped in the neck turning area. The problem has not been taken to a dealer yet because they cost is prohibitive to just drive it in the door. When the failure occurs, there is a red triangle and a camera with a red circle with a red line through it. This is a documented problem (TSB 23-NA-062) with this model vehicle and should be made a recall. Many others have reported this same issue. Chevrolet will not fix it without cost

STEERING
STEERING NOT RETURN TO CENTER. DEALER DIAGNOSED STEERING GEAR NEEDING REPLACEMENT. DANGEROUS ON TURNING ON A CORNER AS HAVE TO PULL WHEEL BACK TO CENTER MANUALLY.

NHTSA complaint 11746937. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

STEERING
There's a very common issue with these vehicles where the steering rack breaks and causes a number of issues including a clunking noise when driving over bumps and a rattle in steering wheel when turning left and right. However the most important and dangerous issue is that the steering wheel stops returning to center after making a turn. The steering wheel will move about 1/2 of the way back to center and then just stop and I have to manually turn it the rest of the way. You can imagine how dangerous this could be if someone doesn't realize what's happening and the car continues turning and goes into oncoming traffic. I have to manually turn the steering wheel back to center to avoid the

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
