VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

2 injured · crash · towed · 12,000 miles

I WAS PARKING MY 2016 HONDA ACCORD IN A SHOPPING CENTER. AS I WAS SLOWLY INCHING FORWARD TO PARK, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN (WITHOUT ME PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR) AND WENT FORWARD SO FAST IT WENT OVER A RETAINING WALL THAT SEPARATED US FROM AN ADJOINING SHOPPING CENTER AND DROPPED ABOUT 4-5 FT DOWN INTO THAT ADJOINING PARKING LOT. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND CAUSED US INJURY. THE CAR IS MOST LIKELY TOTALED AT THIS POINT (WAITING TO FIND OUT FROM MY ADJUSTOR). THE ACCELERATION WAS SUDDEN AND EXTREME. I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO HIT THE BRAKES. IT WAS A MATTER OF A SPLIT SECOND BEFORE WE WERE THROWN INTO THE OTHER PARKING LOT. (ATTACHING A PICTURE SO THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT MAKES SENSE)

I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THE CAR SEEMED TO SPEED UP EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT PRESSING THE GAS. I STRUCK MY NEIGHBORS WALL ACROSS THE STREET, BUT NOT VERY HARD. AT THAT POINT I HEARD A ROAR. I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IT WAS AT THE TIME, BUT NOW I RECOGNIZE IT AS THE SOUND A CAR MAKE IF YOUR PRESSING THE GAS WITH THE CAR IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. I DECIDED TO PULL BACK INTO MY DRIVEWAY TO ASSESSS THE DAMAGE TO MY CAR. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE IT ROARED FORWARD. I PRESSED THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD BUT THE CAR COULD NOT BE STOPPED IT CRASHED INTO THE BRICK WALL OF MY GARAGE. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND I SUFFERED CUTS AND BRUISES. MY CAR WAS TOTALED.

STEERING

2 injured · crash · towed · 50,000 miles

TRAVELLING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH. CAR STARTED TO DRIFT TO THE LEFT, STARTED TO TRY AND EASE BACK RIGHT INTO THE LANE AND CAR WENT OUT OF CONTROL RIGHT AND OFF THE ROAD INTO THE WOODS ON THE SIDE OF INTERSTATE AND INTO TREES.

NHTSA complaint 11416564. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
When the outside temperature rises, even with sun visor coverage, the vehicle starts making a weird screeching high pitch noise. You can unplug the car chargers turn off radio, and it still continues, very daunting and dangerous, unable to hear paramedics siren until visible. Unable to have toddler in vehicle noise is loud, Apple Watch states noise decibel too loud.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V418000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the VIN was not included in the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified

NHTSA complaint 11753010, quoted in part. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The stereo/infotainment system starts making an extremely loud static sound which comes through the speakers. It can be ear piercing at times. Sometimes this triggers the infotainmnet system controls not to work. I have to stop the car, turn off the engine and open the door to hopefully reset the system. This can be extremely dangerous in traffic.

NHTSA complaint 11753180. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Vehicle experienced sudden loss of power/stalling while driving due to a failing fuel pump assembly. This mirrors the exact safety risks of NHTSA Recall 19V060000, but my 4-cylinder VIN is currently excluded. It also matches NHSTA recall# 23V-858 derailed L4 2.4L Accords but still my vin is excluded.

NHTSA complaint 11752189. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The speakers will suddenly blast an extremely loud static noise, even when the radio is turned off. The only way to stop it is to pull over and turn the vehicle off. Eventually, the problem became so severe that even after turning the car off and restarting it, the speakers would continue blasting the static noise. The sound is so loud that it makes it difficult to think clearly and creates a serious distraction while driving, posing a significant safety hazard.

NHTSA complaint 11751311. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The radio head unit produces a loud unbearable static that is very unsafe because if one needed to hear emergency responders passing by they could not. Yes it has been confirmed by multiple auto shops. No warnings, just loud unbearable static.

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
