Owners of the 2022 Toyota Corolla have filed 95 safety complaints with NHTSA between October 2021 and July 2026. The most complained-about system is the electrical system, named in 19 of them (20%). The typical failure was reported at 21,000 miles, the median across the 21 complaints that gave an odometer reading.

Complaints rose 33% year on year: 20 in the twelve months to 2026-Q1, against 15 in the twelve before.

No recall campaign was matched to this year, make and model. That is not the same as a clean vehicle: recalls are issued against production ranges, and the only reliable check is your own VIN.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The vehicle's infotainment system, specifically when utilizing Android Auto, is subject to recurrent, unprompted UI freezes and interface crashes while the vehicle is in motion. These malfunctions are induced by a persistent server-side enterprise management policy ('DISABLED_BY_ADMIN_POLICY') applied to the connected mobile device. The resulting software-induced failures cause the vehicle's display to freeze or become unresponsive, creating a severe and unpredictable distraction to the driver while operating the vehicle. Despite documenting these incidents, the manufacturer’s support team has refused to remediate the software conflict, instead instructing the user to power down the device

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
