FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

towed · 6,700 miles

The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV80. The contact stated that while pulling into traffic, the vehicle stalled. The accelerator was depressed, but the vehicle failed to move. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was due to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V282000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact contacted AAA, who rest drove the vehicle but eventually towed the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and provided a case. The failure mileage was approximately 6,700.

NHTSA complaint 11738023. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
A software defect exists which causes the vehicle to reset the electronically controlled side view mirrors such that they point downward, obscuring the driver's view along the sides of the vehicle. I have notified the Genesis dealer and Genesis USA before and neither has been able to reproduce or rectify the problem. I suspect this is a defect when the vehicle is started on an unlevel surface, as the mirrors will attempt to adjust automatically. The defect appears to be most prominent when switching user profiles and shifting into a gear before the driver profile has finished loading. This issue is also present on the 2026 Genesis GV80.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
On Friday, April 11, 2026 I received an alert on my vehicle that there was a possible issue with the driver's side headlamps. After checking my headlamps I discovered that the driver's side headlamps were not on. It was night time when this happened and I was very concerned for my safety and the safety of others while driving without proper lighting. The issue has been confirmed by a Genesis Service representative stating that this is a very common issue with this particular vehicle. It was relayed that moisture gets in the light assembly and shorts out the ILCU, which kills light functions. I have not had the vehicle inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representative. I feel

SEATS
In light of the recent fatality involving an automatic folding seat in a Hyundai, we tested the automatic seat function in the Genesis 2nd row to ensure it responds appropriately. First, my daughter (weighing 165 lbs) sat in the seat without a seat belt on and activated the folding mechanism. The seat did stop once it detected her, but only after it had already pushed her into an uncomfortably bent position, which suggests the detection point may be later than ideal. We then tested the seat using a Joie Mint Latch baseless car seat with a child in it (18 lb child, and the car seat weighing approximately 9 lbs). We did not secure the lower anchors or seat belt out of caution. When we pressed

STRUCTURE:BODY
On September 28, 2025, after parking in my garage on a hot day (~80°F), my Genesis GV80 automatically locked all doors while my 3-year-old child and dog were still inside. My keys were also locked in the vehicle. Neither the driver nor passenger door thumbprint sensors responded. For approximately 20 minutes, I was unable to unlock the car while my daughter was trapped inside crying and screaming. I was forced to call the police and emergency services. The situation was only resolved when I calmed my daughter enough to press the unlock button from inside, just before the ambulance arrived. Police responded to the scene and a report was made. This is the second time this defect has occurred.

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
