25V744000 · October 30, 2025

The defect
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2022-2026 Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru Solterra vehicles equipped with a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models. A software error may cause the rearview camera to freeze or display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
The risk
A rearview camera that fails to display an image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Dealers will update the parking assist software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed January 2, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 25TB13 and 25LB06. Subaru's number for this recall is WRE25.

Due to an error in the instrument panel software at vehicle startup, the instrument panel may fail to display vehicle speed, brake system, and tire pressure warning lights.
The risk
An instrument panel display that does not show critical information can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy
Dealers will update the instrument panel software over-the-air (OTA) for non-PHEV vehicles, free of charge. For PHEV vehicles, dealers will inspect the instrument panel assembly, and either replace it, or update the software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed December 5, 2025. The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Crown. The contact stated that while driving at 77MPH during rainy weather, the Proactive Driving Assistant (PDA) engaged due to it detecting a vehicle ahead however the system failed and undetected the vehicle while that vehicle was still present. Due to the failure, the vehicle increased in speed however the contact was able to depress the brake pedal and disengage the Proactive Driving Assistant (PDA) in order to avoid a crash. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
When vehicles comes to a stop, sometimes there is a hesitation in vehicle acceleration. Vehicle will jerk, then accelerate 3-4 seconds after pressing down throttle. Car does not provide or show error codes. There is currently a Toyota Service Bulletin for the exact same issue for the Toyota highlander (TSB-0017-24) which address the issue "Hesitation felt while accelerating at low speeds." And the fix involves a software update for the engine control unit. Since there is no official documentation for the Toyota crown platinum which shares the same engine configuration, Toyota refuses to provide a resolution. This puts vehicles occupants at risk of a crash, as if you are expecting to

POWER TRAIN
Our 2024 Toyota Crown Platinum has been experiencing random loss of power or torque when merging into traffic from a complete stop. The vehicle will be working fine; then, while attempting to accelerate from a complete stop, there is no torque or ability to accelerate up to posted speed. Not sure if it is an engine or transmission issue…but it represents a significant safety concern when it happens if pulling out from a stop to merge into oncoming traffic. The driver of the vehicle judges if it is safe to make a right turn on red (for example) and when the car does not perform as expected and there is a loss of torque or acceleration, this creates an opportunity for other drivers to rear

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
2024 Crown Hybrid system keeps popping up on dash saying warm lamp came on twice: third time Warning lamp turned. Vehicle has been serviced twice at same dealer and then taken to another for same problem. The problem has not been resolved. Dealership indicates cannot duplicate problem. I have even shown the dealership from photo and not able to resolve.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The main instrument panel on numerous occasions remains locked on “Experience Drive Connect”, usually when starting the vehicles, but occasionally when the vehicle is being driven. Sometimes when we can turn off the car and restart, the screen will begin normal functions. Yesterday the screen remained locked after 5 shut-downs and we had to drive with a locked screen. This causes the loss of some critical functions. The fact that there remains no remedy places drivers at greater risk and should not be acceptable to the FTC nor affected Toyota drivers. We should not have to trade a higher end 2024 vehicle with 10K miles for another brand to remedy this issue. Additionally, the vehicle may

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
I was backing up the vehicle into a driveway and then again the screen went blank and no back up lights as well. This vehicle had just been back from the dealer and they had requested photos which I did immediately and back to the dealer for about the 6th time for the same issue.

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
