TIRES

21V115000 · February 25, 2021

The defect
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, XT5, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, 2018-2021 Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana, 2019-2020 Chevrolet Blazer, Silverado 1500, GMC Acadia, Sierra 1500, and certain Continental tires sold to the aftermarket for various model year 2018-2021 vehicles. The affected tires were cured for too long during production.
The risk
Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall resulting in sudden air loss or a belt edge separation which could lead to a tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tires, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 22, 2021. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N212329050.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

20V668000 · October 29, 2020

The defect
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Chevrolet Cruze and Buick LaCrosse, 2018-2020 Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Terrain, 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, 2019-2020 Buick Encore, Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Acadia, and 2020 Cadillac XT6 vehicles. The start/stop accumulator endcap may have missing bolts.
The risk
Missing bolts on the start-stop accumulator endcap could result in a transmission oil leak and may progress to a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.
The remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the start-stop transmission accumulator and replace it if any bolts are missing, free of charge. The recall began December 15, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick Customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:CURTAIN:INFLATOR

20V446000 · July 30, 2020

The defect
General Motors, LLC. (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT5 and XT6, Chevrolet Blazer, Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500 and Traverse and GMC Acadia and Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500 vehicles. The diffuser component of the Roof-Rail Air Bag (RRAB) inflator may not have been properly crimped to the inflator and could separate from the inflator during air bag deployment.
The risk
If the diffuser separates from the inflator during deployment, RRAB performance may be degraded, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
The remedy
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the suspect RRAB modules, free of charge. The recall began September 3, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, or Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300. GM's number for this recall is N202305380.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

2 injured · crash · towed

6/12/2024 In Damon Parking lot in Rochester MN. Going less than 10 miles an hr- cars in front of me and behind me looking for a parking spot. Stop and go at times. Went to turn corner to go from one level to the next and my BLAZER took off "like a bullet". No control over accelerated speed- hit outer cement wall and slammed into 2 parked empty SUVS. Could not go any farther. The 2 SUVs slammed into cement wall in front of them. Injuries to both my passenger and myself. I have no idea what happened - it was so fast- I do know I had no control over accelerated rate causing accident. My 2020 Chevy Blazer was totaled- It was inspected by American National Insurance CO. Absolutely no warnings.

IT HAD TO BE TOWED. IT WAS NON DRIVABLE. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAD 1300 MILES ON IT. I DECIDED AT LAST MINUTE TO NOT GET ON HIGHWAY.

POWER TRAIN
Last year I was heading to heading to [XXX] in XXX when I pushed on the brakes on my 2020 Chevy blazer my brakes were working but the steering wheel was shaking weird like I was hard on the brakes but I was tapping them slowly earlier this year right before I had transmission flush at fox Chevy in Caledonia I noticed before two weeks of bringing it in I was near a traffic light slowing down it went hard shift down and when I was not moving in notice it jerked forward when at idle and the light like it was rear ended I feel like this is a safety concern of that happening after the transmission flush for two months after doing the acceleration is slipping I feel like there should be a recall

ENGINE
I was driving and steering reduced drive with caution notification and brake assist notification came on and then engine light and the temp gage went to cold and stayed there. My steering stiffened up making it hard to steer. This is a known problem with the Chevy blazers and it had to do with the thermostat needing replaced.

NHTSA complaint 11749661. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The vehicle experiences a constant cooling system failure that appears to be related to the thermostat. Beginning at approximately 40,000 miles, the engine cooling fan started running continuously at high speed whenever the vehicle is operating. At the same time, the air conditioning stopped functioning properly and the vehicle began displaying a warning message indicating that steering assist is unavailable or reduced. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This condition creates a safety concern because the steering assist warning indicates a potential reduction or loss of power steering assistance, which could increase steering effort and make the vehicle more difficult to

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
