The defect
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020-2021 CLA, 2019-2022 A-Class, 2022-2023 C-Class, 2024 CLE, 2020-2026 GLA/GLB, and 2023-2024 GLC vehicles. Please refer to MBUSA's recall report for specific model information. The micro-switch in the driver's door lock may corrode and fail to detect an open door, preventing the electronic parking brake or "Auto-Park" feature from engaging automatically. This may result in a vehicle rollaway.
The risk
A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy
Dealers will replace the driver's door lock, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 18, 2026. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning July 31, 2026.

The contact leased a 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLB250. The contact stated that while pulling into her son's driveway at an undisclosed speed in inclement weather, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration while inadvertently pulling to the right and lifting upward. The vehicle drove across the lawn and crashed into her son's brick wall. The air bags deployed. The contact suffered neck, back, and chest pain. However, medical attention was not received. A police report was filed. The dealer was made aware of the failure, and the vehicle was towed back to the dealer and then to a collision center. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. Parked the car not far from home, when my boyfriend got out and shut the door, the sunroof completely imploded. Tempered yet sharp shards were everywhere including my mouth, hair and body. MB took no responsibility and wound even have the car towed. Roof was repaired via my car insurance including private towing. MB wanted nothing to do with me. I do know that this has been a serious problem all over the country for some time. Please advise.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

crash · towed

this car really has a lot of issues and honestly if I didn’t know what to do last night and didn’t know about cars, it could have seriously cost me my life but luckily I was able to move out the way of a truck that was coming fast behind me while I was at a traffic light and when the light turned green the car would not start back up from the automatic stop when you make stops and because the auto shut off never came back on and I had to literally make a split second decision and put it in park and start up again and go quick. The check engine light has been on since July 14,2024 and I bought the car on July 13,2024 and the dealership has not done anything about this issues and this morning

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
When driving on the highway going 65mph the car slipped in neutral and error showed on dashboard "transmission malfunction stop." I could steer and break, but not accelerate. Pulling over on side of highway, I was able to put in park and then drive. I pulled off the exit and the car did the same thing within 10 mins. Car was towed to Mercedes dealership in Warwick, RI. I was made aware after inspection that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle nor the transmission, but rather there was a needed software update that was causing the issue that had been identified previously. Regular service was due, but no indication whatsoever of the error I saw nor any other error codes. No error showed

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
My fuel injection has been replaced 2 times in 3 years. Was advised that it could cause damages to other parts

SERVICE BRAKES
Brake over heats because of rust caused by rain which builds up causing brakes to freeze up. Explanation from dealer. In fact told us we need to dry brakes off if we drive in rain and park in garage for more than 2 days or we will have it happen again. Brakes freeze and car locked up and can’t move it. We bought the car used had it inspected by a MBD in Atlanta G. Bulkhead , told breaks were like new. Mileage 23,666 miles. Put on about 4000 miles now brakes gone froze up from rain. Garage kept. While driving car we were noticing almost like the breakers were on but not stepping on break. A pulling like action. Seemed like emergency brake was on. Car at dealership now in Greenville SC

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Despite maintaining the vehicle according to the recommended schedule, I have encountered ongoing performance issues (electrical, rear shocks, fan motor etc.) that are not in line with the standard of quality I expect from a brand of your reputation. Window not going down all the way on the driver side. Radio not working but was fixed. These issues have caused inconvenience and concern regarding the reliability of the vehicle. To address my concerns, I spoke with a Mercedes-Benz representative who informed me that, due to the problems I’ve experienced, I may be eligible for either an extended warranty or a credit toward the purchase of a new vehicle. After careful consideration, I opted for

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Coordinate this complaint with previous complaints reference 11569682 and 11569502, As of last night the car has 1136 miles. I have thoroughly tested the car to the best of my ability and set and reset the settings. The hill decent has only engaged twice. The car is supposed to read speed limit signs and it does show up in the instrument panel but the car speeds up randomly i.e. from 35 to 50 and above to not limited to 35. The adaptive speed control at random will malfunction the car will not slow down and brake. This has happened several times. When turn signal is engaged and you enter turning lane the car may slow down or not. This vehicle I was told is a MBUA corporate vehicle held back

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
