2025 Cadillac XT6

The defect

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Cadillac XT5 and 2024-2025 Cadillac XT6 vehicles. The instrument panel may not illuminate when the hazard warning lights, high beams, or turn signals are activated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, "Controls and Displays" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment."

The risk

Without the illuminated reminder, the driver could fail to turn off the lights when no longer needed. Hazard warning lights, high beams, or turn signals that remain activated unintentionally can confuse other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will update the instrument panel software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 13, 2024. Owners may contact Cadillac's customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447940.

THE VEHICLE'S AUDIO SYSTEM INTERMITTENTLY ACTIVATES ALL SPEAKERS WITHOUT COMMAND WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. The rear camera blanks out when backing out of driveway into the sun. It prevents me from seeing cross traffic and pedestrians. The dealer looked at the system and said it something I had to live with. This seems to be an intermittent problem, as sometimes it suddenly starts to work, or when I back into the street over the curb gutter. If I back the vehicle into the garage and drive out into the sun, the front camera is not affected by the sun. I feel this is a safety hazard to pedestrians and other vehicles. I was backing up into a parking space in a parking garage. I was about halfway into the spot and was not in danger of hitting any vehicles or objects and my vehicle abruptly (extremely hard) braked.

During a cross- country trip, we had driven more than 300 miles, but the fuel gage indicated full, the Fuel Range Indicator showed a 688-mile range available in the tank which is much more than a 2025 Cadillac XT6 should indicate. The fuel gage indicated full even though it was not. I pulled the car over, shut it off and restarted, but it still erroneously indicated full. The indication remained that way for approximately 1400 miles. During the trip, while the gage still indicated full even though it was not, the tank was hard to fill. The gas station pump would automatically click off as if the tank was full, but it was not. I could only fill the tank by continuously over-riding the …
