BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA

The defect
American Honda Motor Company (Honda) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Honda Prologue and 2024 Acura ZDX vehicles. The rearview camera screen may display a distorted or blank image.
The risk
A rearview image that does not display correctly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy
Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 7, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated in late 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are DO5 and RO6. The information in your report suggests that Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) may have been aware of this issue more than five business days before filing a report with NHTSA. Please be reminded that under Federal law, this agency is to be notified of all safety defect and/or noncompliance decisions within five business days. 49 CFR 573.6 Significant civil penalties can be assessed for this violation.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

The contact owns a 2025 Honda Prologue. The contact stated that upon entering a parking lot at 5 MPH, the contact was attempting to park into a charging station. As the contact depressed the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop without warning. The contact repeatedly depressed the brake pedal as the vehicle accelerated and hit a tree. The air bags did not deploy upon impact as the contact's glasses flew off upon impact with the tree. The contact called the authorities, who informed her that they would not come to the scene if there were no injuries or damage to the tree. A police report was not filed. The contact sustained mental anguish and soreness in her collarbone, neck, and back.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Brake by it self on the street multiple times and then when I’m goin reverse it sence sometimes something and does not let me go also the battery does not let me charge more of 20% when the red car on the dash apear and it has a noise when your turning

STEERING

Car started making knocking noise at 3k miles coming from axle. I reported to Dealership. Car sways on highways when steering straight. Car stop s at 10mph when turning corners saying that a pedestrian is infront of vehicle when there is no one. Backup camera glitches. Vehicle very unsafe. Dealership not doing anything. Contacted employees that sold me the vehicle and they are acting non chalant.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On December 1, 2025, the 2025 Honda Prologue was pulling into a parking spot between two parked vehicles at low speed. While in forward gear, the Prologue experienced an unexpected acceleration event and collided with three parked vehicles, two of whom were hit with sufficient force to impact adjacent parked vehicles. The driver is unaware of having pressed down on the accelerator and is additionally concerned about why none of the vehicle safety features such as the equipped Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) activated to prevent these collisions. BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
Took car to Ed Voyles Honda to get several issues addressed, one of which was this recall. Other issues were fixed but for this recall I was told that they don't actually replace the camera until there is an issue. Recall issue was not addressed.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
At night rear view camera is dark unable to see objects, safety hazard. It is working, but does not have proper lighting. I have brought in to Honda and they have not resolved issue. State they can not duplicate issue.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The rearview camera on my 2025 Honda Prologue Elite is absolutely unusable at night. The display is so dark that I can barely see anything behind the vehicle in dark conditions, even with the driveway/garage lights on. This creates a significant safety hazard when backing up, parking, or checking surroundings at night. Safety Concern: Rearview cameras are essential for visibility and preventing collisions, especially in low-light situations. Since the camera does not provide adequate visibility at night, it fails to meet its intended safety function and puts pedestrians, other vehicles, and property at risk. When It Occurs: The issue occurs consistently at night in low-light environments.

I have reported car jerks while driving as though pushing to go. Car service said never heard of something with Prologues and brushed it off. I want it documented. The safety features such as listed above do not always effectively work either.
