The defect
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Acura Integra, Civic Type R, CR-V Hybrid, CR-V, HR-V, 2022-2025 Civic, Civic Hatchback, 2024-2025 Acura Integra Type S, 2025 CR-V Fuel Cell EV, Civic Hybrid, and Civic Hatchback Hybrid vehicles. The steering gearbox assembly may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can cause excessive internal friction and lead to difficulty steering the vehicle.
The risk
Difficulty steering can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Dealers will replace the worm gear spring and redistribute or add grease as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 18, 2024. Owners may contact Honda Customer Service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are SJS, MJU, QJT and VJV.

STEERING

The contact owned a 2025 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at approximately 40 MPH, as the contact slowed to follow a slight right hand curve on the road, the steering wheel pulled to the right. The contact stated that the vehicle drove onto the shoulder, the contact attempted to steer the vehicle back onto the road but the steering was not responding. The contact stated that he was able to turn the steering wheel to the left, however the vehicle was locked in a right turn and then crashed into a small tree as the vehicle was driving down a slight embankment. The contact stated that he did not see any warning lights and as the vehicle crashed into the tree the air bags deployed

[XXX] is the VIN. AIRBAGS DID NIT DEPLOY I was driving 77 mph on i80 near [XXX] . Another vehicle, a Chevy Malibu, left the left lane of traffic and drove on the median. This driver over corrected when her speed was 83 mph. I hit her broadside (Tbone) in the b pillar dead center on the my front of my CRV. My airbags did not deploy. I received a broken sternum from hitting the steering wheel. USAA did not investigate, just saw the photos and totalled the CRV. The Chevy Malibu had all the airbags deploy. On November 17, 2025 at 8:25am, the collision happened while I was parking my vehicle into the parking spot at my work place. The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and unexpected accelerated and subsequently crashed into the wall. The impact caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle triggered airbags deployments and hurt my chest and forehead

LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
The hybrid fan died after 23k miles of use and put the car into limp mode on the highway, the lane departure system frequently does not work, and the car has never come to close to the estimated MPG.

The contact owns a 2025 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to turn the steering wheel, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V744000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer was contacted and diagnosed vehicle with steering failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in recall, and the vehicle owner was responsible for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

The contact owns a 2025 Honda CR-V. The contact had not yet received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V366000 (Tires); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available, even though the recall remedy indicated that parts were available in limited supply. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The contact owns a 2025 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a turn, the steering wheel was making a clicking sound. The failure was recurring. The dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

The contact owns a 2025 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while slowly driving into a parking space and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated and drove over a curb and onto the sidewalk and crashed into a concrete wall. During the crash, there was severe front-end damage; however, the air bags failed to deploy. No injuries were reported. A Police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to the local Collision Center. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The contact stated that the failure had occurred once before. The failure mileage was 4,500.
