The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) reviewed its complaint data and Nissan's design, test and field data on the model year 2013 Nissan Rogue vehicles (subject vehicles) and other model year Rogue vehicles.ODI also reviewed its complaint data and Nissan's field data on several other Nissan and Infiniti models that use the same driver air bag inflator design used in the subject vehicles. In addition, NHTSA conducted testing and analysis of a sample of driver air bag inflator units taken out of the subject vehicles and reviewed a NHTSA crash database and crash test results on the Rogue vehicles.A safety-related defect trend has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted.Accordingly, this investigation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that no safety-related defect exists. The agency will monitor the issue and reserves the right to take future action if warranted by the circumstances.See attached report for additional information. The ODI complaints cited above can be viewed at www.safercar.gov under the following ODI identification numbers:10566667, 10644946 and 10862615.

POWER TRAIN
The transmission failed while I was driving on the freeway and I couldn’t go more than 30 mph while traffic was going 75-80 mph. Just to reach a spot to safely stop myself and my passenger were fearing for our lives of getting struck by another vehicle. Upon researching it we found that this is typical of this make, model and year vehicle with no resolve from manufacturer. We find this completely unacceptable to have a known defect like this with safety at hand and no where to turn for help to remedy these vehicles.

fire

I am writing to formally notify NHTSA of a serious safety incident involving my 2013 Nissan Rogue. My vehicle experienced an electrical fire while parked in my driveway following heavy snowstorms and road salt exposure. The vehicle was stationary at the time of the incident. My insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss. There were no warning lights or other symptoms prior to this incident. Researching this failure, I discovered NHTSA Safety Recall No. 15V032000, which states that moisture and road salt may reach the driver-side wiring harness connector, causing corrosion and potential electrical short circuits that can result in a vehicle fire. My incident aligns exactly with the

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
