Recalls (4)

POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT

24V470000 · June 21, 2024

The defect
Nissan North America, Inc. (INFINITI) is recalling certain 2011-2013 M56, 2012-2013 M35 Hybrid, 2014-2018 Q50, Q70 Hybrid, 2014-2019 Q70, and 2015-2019 Q70L two-wheel drive vehicles. The driveshaft can fatigue and break.
The risk
A broken driveshaft can result in a loss of drive power, or a vehicle roll away when the vehicle is in park without the parking brake applied. Both scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Dealers will replace the driveshaft, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 13, 2024. Owners may contact INFINITI's customer service at 1-800-662-6200. INFINITI's numbers for this recall are R24A5 and R24A7.

AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE

17V571000 · September 15, 2017

The defect
Nissan North America (Nissan) is recalling certain 2017 Infiniti Q50 and Q50 Hybrid vehicles. The driver's frontal air bag inflator may have been improperly welded.
The risk
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator may crack and release the gas needed to properly deploy the air bag, increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver side air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began October 30, 2017. Owners may contact Infiniti customer service at 1-800-662-6200, option 7.

Nissan North America, Inc. · up to 814 vehicles across all model years covered

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP

17V476000 · July 27, 2017

The defect
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Infiniti Q50 and 2017 Infiniti Q60 vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. Incorrect Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) software may allow the fuel level in the main tank to be too low to supply fuel to the engine, causing the engine to stall while driving.
The risk
An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Nissan will notify owners, and Infiniti dealers will reprogram the Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) with corrected software, free of charge. The recall began August 29, 2017. Owners may contact Infiniti customer service at 1-800-662-6200.

AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION

16V244000 · April 26, 2016

The defect
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2013-2016 Nissan Altima, NV200, LEAF, Sentra, and Pathfinder, 2014-2016 Nissan NV200 Taxi, Infiniti QX60, QX60 Hybrid, and Q50 Hybrid, 2014-2017 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti Q50, 2015-2016 Nissan Murano, Murano Hybrid, and Chevrolet City Express, 2014-2015 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2013 Infiniti JX35 vehicles. In these vehicles, the front seat passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) may incorrectly classify an adult passenger as a child or classify the seat as empty despite it being occupied. As a result, the passenger frontal air bag may be turned off and not deploy in the event of a crash.
The risk
If the passenger frontal air bag does not deploy as intended in the event of a crash, the passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
The remedy
Nissan will notify their owners. Chevrolet City Express owners will be notified by General Motors. Dealers will reprogram the Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) and OCS Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue, and Sentra vehicles, and replace the OCS ECU in LEAF, NV200, NV200 Taxi, Pathfinder, Infiniti Q50, JX35, and QX60 and Chevrolet City Express vehicles, free of charge. Interim notices were sent to owners on May 31, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, Infiniti customer service at 1-888-833-3216 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.

I RENTED A VEHICLE FROM HERTZ AT GEORGE BUSH INTERCONTINENTAL AIRPORT IN HOUSTON, TEXAS FRIDAY MAY 18, 2018. ABOUT 2 HOURS INTO MY TRIP I CHECKED THE VEHICLE INFORMATION AND DISCOVERED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS NOT AT MANUFACTURES SPECIFICATIONS (35PSI). THE FRONT TWO TIRES WERE AT ABOUT 44PSI, THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE TIRE WAS AT 59PSI AND THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE WAS AT ABOUT 40PSI. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED HERTZ EMERGENCY ROAD ASSISTANCE (8006544174) AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE ISSUE. I WAS ADVISED TO NOTIFY THE LOCATION UPON RETURNING THE VEHICLE. AFTER MAKING THIS CALL I WAS IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HYDROPLANED AND SLID ACROSS THE HIGHWAY, EVENTUALLY MAKING ONE OR MORE 360 TURNS UNTIL

AIR BAGS
The contact owns a 2017 Infiniti Q50. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with air bags failure. The contact was informed that the air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall related to the failure. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to pass State Inspection due to the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

STEERING
Affected: Steering/Electrical/Direct Adaptive Steering, 50K miles While driving my 2017 Infinity Q50s under normal driving conditions, the vehicle suffered an instantaneous, catastrophic, and total failure of the power steering assist system without any prior warning or dashboard fault indicators. The sudden loss of steering assist immediately caused the steering wheel to become incredibly heavy and virtually locked, requiring extreme, dangerous physical exertion to maintain minimal control over the direction of the vehicle. Due to the violent and unpredictable change in steering dynamics at speed, I was forced out of my lane and ran over a curb and came moments away from experiencing a

ENGINE
I have had several major problems with this car's engine. Once it shut down (was detecting no oil but was full) while on the interstate. Had to replace the radiator fan assembly and module. Coolant Leaks

NHTSA complaint 11739745. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

AIR BAGS
The passenger seat occupant sensor is on. Dealer confirmed the code is related to a bad sensor so even if someone is sitting in the passenger seat and we are in an accident the airbag will not deploy. The dealer said a recall exists for earlier models but not for the 2017 even though they say it’s the same components. They want to charge me between $6,000 to $8,000 to repair which is almost as much as the car is worth. This unfortunately is cost prohibitive at this time so we are driving with the known risk. The light has been on for a couple of years now as we were hoping an additional recall would come out but it hasn’t which is why I am submitting this report.

NHTSA complaint 11723190. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
The problem is on the recall, I understand my car is not on the VIN recall list but it's the same problem. Potential Recalls for 2017 Q50: Fuel Pump Control Module (2.0L engines): Improper software may cause the engine to stall.

NHTSA complaint 11723136. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

WHEELS
I experienced an ongoing grinding/rattling noise from the wheel/brake area. The vehicle was serviced multiple times by a franchised dealer, which diagnosed the issue as brake-related and performed brake repairs. The noise was not resolved, and the vehicle was returned in the same condition. Shortly after service, an independent mechanic discovered a cracked/broken brake pad installed on the vehicle. Due to safety concerns, the manufacturer authorized inspection at a separate franchised dealership under different ownership. That inspection confirmed aftermarket brake pads, rotors, and related components of unknown origin installed on both the front and rear, missing OEM hardware, improper

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
