26V262000 · April 23, 2026

The defect
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger electric vehicles. A software error may cause the instrument panel display to fail. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment," 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems for Light Vehicles," 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems," 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring System," and/or 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
The risk
An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as gear selection and warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Dealers will update the instrument panel software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 14, 2026. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

crash

While maneuvering at low speed into my garage, the vehicle accelerated forward beyond my intended input and in a manner inconsistent with a controlled parking maneuver. This resulted in famage to the front end of the vehicle, a tool bench containing equipment and the wall of the garage (interior and exterior).

POWER TRAIN
My 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S has experienced repeated electrical and drivability failures. Most recently, while driving at approximately 16,500 miles, the vehicle displayed “Service Electric Vehicle System” followed by “Stop Safely – Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon.” The warning appeared while the vehicle was in motion, creating concern that the vehicle could lose propulsion or shut down unexpectedly in traffic. This was not the first serious incident. On a prior occasion, the vehicle made loud clicking and clacking noises and later became disabled in downtown Berwick, Maine. During that incident, the vehicle would not shut off and would not shift into Park, leaving me stranded and unable to secure

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
My vehicle reduces speed while driving. Occasionally a red turtle will pop up on the dashboard and it just reduces speed. This has gapped on many occasions. The dealership doesn’t know why this is happening. It has been in the shop for a month and two days with more than one problem. This vehicle is very unsafe and dangerous to drive. Mechanically it’s NO GOOD.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
On XXX I picked up my vehicle from Sames Bastrop Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram ([XXX]) after a six-week repair visit (XXX). The dealer's paperwork states two open NHTSA recalls were completed on this visit: 26V-141 (liftgate hinge cover) and 26V-262 (instrument panel cluster software). The same day, when I started the vehicle, the instrument panel cluster did not illuminate. While driving in my neighborhood at low speed, the vehicle lost acceleration, the brakes became unresponsive for a period, and a warning message instructed me to pull over immediately before the vehicle would shut down. I brought the vehicle to a stop safely and it allowed me to turn off the engine at that point. I restarted

NHTSA complaint 11749515, quoted in part. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
On XXX I was unable to turn off my vehicle and could not shift it into any gear. The vehicle had to be towed to Sames Bastrop Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram ([XXX]) for repair, RO #XXX. The dealer's diagnosis noted the high-voltage battery at 3 percent charge and referenced TSB 08-128-25. The correction involved disconnecting the 12V battery and reprogramming multiple control modules (BPCM, MCPA, MCPB, EVCU, IDCM). No crash or injury occurred. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I am reaching out regarding ongoing safety and reliability concerns involving my 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition, leased in March 2025 from SMG Automotive Holdings, LLC in Brooklyn, New York. I previously pursued arbitration through NCDS; however, the case was dismissed after I accepted a settlement related to issues occurring before March 31, 2026. Unfortunately, the vehicle’s problems have continued beyond that date. Within months of leasing the vehicle, it became completely inoperable late at night and would not start, leaving me stranded. The first tow truck was unable to move the vehicle because it could not be shifted into neutral, requiring a second specialized EV tow truck and

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
