Still open recall query · opened July 5, 2024

the electrical system, the engine

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has identified 68 Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) reports for model years (MY) 2021 through 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe vehicles alleging a loss of motive power. Recall 22V-865 was issued by the manufacturer to address an engine shutdown condition in certain MY 2021-2023 Wrangler 4xe vehicles. The complaints noted here contain both post recall remedy failures and failures in vehicles not included within the scope of 22V-865. An analysis comparing complaints received before the issuance of recall 22V-865 and complaints outside the scope of the recall has been conducted. The results show the current complaint rate is higher in the out of scope vehicles than it was for vehicles that were later covered by the recall. ODI is opening this Recall Query (RQ) to assess the severity of the alleged defect in vehicles not included in recall 22V-865.ODI will also assess the scope and remedy effectiveness of the recall. To review the ODI reports cited in the Opening Resume ODI Report Identification Number document, go to NHTSA.gov.

Despite a severe frontal crash, no airbags deployed and no warning or automatic braking occurred. The Bosch Crash Data Report shows abnormal sensor spikes (up to +52g), inconsistent Delta-V readings, and failures in object detection (“No Object” recorded before impact). The components remain available for inspection through the body shop and insurer. Safety Risk: My family and I were injured because the vehicle provided no warning, no crash avoidance, and no airbag deployment during a major impact requiring a full frame replacement. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Following the completion of the 68C recall update on 4/17/26 my 2024 Jeep 4xE experiences a severe loss of acceleration and throttle lag at highway speeds (over 50 mph) when in electric mode. When attempting to pass vehicles (and sometimes when in the oncoming traffic lane), or when just trying to maintain speed in traffic, the drivetrain abruptly throttles power; causing the vehicle to bog down and hesitate. There is no ability to accelerate and care slows. The gas pedal is essentially useless. The gas engine then performs a panic start, causing the vehicle to lurch forward at highway speeds. It has created and dangerous driving condition when passing, merging or just trying to keep pace

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
When in electric mode - and this happens at all different battery percentages - it will drive normally for a bit and I've watched the screen and seen the KW go up and down normally for electric and it seems perhaps once the battery has heated up (my assumption) it throttles electric power at 46 or 48KW, and then does not accelerate anymore and instead will lose power/speed (which is dangerous in traffic) and eventually switch over to Hybrid and a message about Electric mode temporarily unavailable. While waiting for hybrid to kick on my speed decreases by about 15mph. This has also happened when trying to take off from a complete stop. So you can only accelerate and very slowly to perhaps

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
