The defect
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023–2026 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles equipped with a left-side radiator/fan combination. Excess fuel may spill into the vehicle fuel-filler pocket during refueling and leak onto an ignition source.
The risk
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source, such as hot engine or exhaust components, can increase the risk of a fire.
The remedy
Dealers will install a shield to divert spilled fuel, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 14, 2025. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N252514930.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

1 death · fire · crash · towed

My fiancé, [XXX] died on [XXX], while driving his 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible . He was passing another car on a straight road ,A witness confirmed he was not speeding excessively. Suddenly, he lost control of the vehicle, crashed, and the car burst into flames. I’ve since learned that GM issued a recall for this model due to fuel spillage and fire risk. Other owners have reported transmission and instrument panel failures. I believe a defect in the vehicle may have caused or contributed to [XXX] ’s death. I am requesting a formal investigation into this incident and the safety of the 2023 Corvette Z06. I am also pursuing legal action to hold GM accountable. INFORMATION REDACTED

On [XXX] I was driving my corvette in Atlantic City, New Jersey, which at that time I noticed smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle. I looked at my dash to see if any warning lights or check engine lights were on and nothing Indicate there was a problem. So I did continue to drive to get to a safe place where I can pull over and look at the engine. When I came up to the red light, the car next to me told me that my vehicle was on the fire. I was able to pull over on the side of road next to the hospital in Atlantic City. And then I got out of my car to nattempt to put out the fire myself as I noticed Melting Plastic that was on fire, was dripping all my tires to avoid the tires Catching

Component/System: Fuel System – Fuel Filler / Left-Side Radiator and Cooling Fan Assembly (subject to NHTSA Recall 25V536). What happened: On June 15, 2024, I was refueling my 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 at a BP gas station in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. As I removed the fuel pump nozzle from the vehicle, a violent explosion occurred. I was immediately engulfed in a fireball. My clothing caught fire and was burning me. I jumped clear of the flames and extinguished the fire on my clothing. I saw that the vehicle remained fully engulfed in flames with the pump nozzle still lodged in the filler. I ran to the adjacent pump island where a station attendant was attempting but was unable to open a

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
While driving normally, I was in the middle of a busy highway/intersection when the vehicle suddenly lost power and came to a complete stop. The vehicle shut itself off without warning, leaving the Corvette disabled in the roadway and causing a complete blockage of the road/intersection. Traffic was actively traveling around me, creating a serious safety hazard and putting both myself and other motorists at risk of a collision. After the vehicle stopped, it would not restart. The instrument cluster displayed a theft-deterrent/immobilizer warning and a lock/security symbol, along with a message stating that there could be a problem with the theft-deterrent system and referring to Immobilizer

WHEELS
At 23000 miles the right rear wheel cracked. I have a 2023 Corvette stingray HTC with the 20" wheels. The option code for this original GM wheel is Q8Q, "20" rear carbon flash painted aluminum wheels with machined edge". This is a common problem and has been reported by many corvette owners on several corvette forums. I do not track my car and have new tires. GM again ignores this safety item. I had the problem on my C7 and again on my C8. I did complete the GM refund paperwork for my C7 cracked rear rims, however, GM never did any refunds or tried to correct this safety issue.

POWER TRAIN
While driving the vehicle in a NYC highway at approximately 45 mph the transmission shifted into neutral causing the vehicle to decelerate gradually resulting in near rear end collision. The vehicle transmission will not engaged into gear while moving nor after stopping.

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
