TIRES:TEMPORARY/EMERGENCY SPARE TIRE

26V366000 · June 4, 2026

The defect
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2026 CR-V Hybrid, Accord Hybrid, and 2025-2026 CR-V Fuel Cell EV vehicles. When using the tire repair kit, pressure may build within the sealant bottle, causing the bottle cap to detach.
The risk
A detached bottle cap can become a projectile and strike the user or others nearby, increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy
Dealers will replace the tire repair kit nozzle or sealant bottle, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed July 27, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in Fall 2026. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is DOV. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning June 11, 2026.

An investigation means NHTSA has decided a pattern is worth examining. A preliminary evaluation is often closed with no action; an engineering analysis is the stage that usually precedes a recall.

Front Seat Belt Assemblies may be Missing the Rivet that Secures the Quick Connector and Wire Plate

RQ24006

Closed recall query · opened April 4, 2024 · closed March 26, 2025

the seat belts

On April 4, 2024, the Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) opened RQ24006 to investigate American Honda Motor Co.’s (Honda’s) proposed remedy for recall 23V-782 as well as scope of the vehicles involved. Honda issued recall 23V-782 on November 21, 2023, which concerns certain model year (MY) 2023-2024 Honda Accord, Honda Accord Hybrid, and Honda HR-V vehicles. Recall 23V-782 states that the driver and front passenger seat belt pretensioner assemblies may have been manufactured without a rivet that secures the pretensioner quick connector and wire plate. Recall documentation states that seat belt pretensioner assemblies that are missing the rivet will not properly restrain the occupant in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury.Subject defective seat belt assemblies are installed as original equipment for both the driver and front passenger positions for the HR-V, but only for the driver position for the Accord and Accord Hybrid. The recall remedy for 23V-782 instructs the technician to inspect both front seat belt pretensioner assemblies and, if necessary, replace them. The inspection procedure requires the technician to utilize a pull force gauge to determine whether the subject component is missing the subject rivet and requires replacement. Parts requiring replacement are determined by whether the pretensioner quick connector separates from the pretensioner assembly while the technician is pulling on the seat belt. If no separation occurs, then the part is determined to be not defective and not require replacement. There have been no reports alleging a failure of seat belt pretensioner assemblies after the inspect and replace remedy for recall 23V-782 was performed. Additionally, no comparable failures have been observed in field data for similar vehicles outside of the scope of the recall. As of the 4th quarter of 2024, the recall completion rate is at approximately 84% of the total recalled population. In view of the lack of failures after the remedy for recall 23V-782 was performed, and the lack of failures in similar vehicles outside of the scope of the recall, ODI is closing this Recall Query (RQ). The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.

STEERING
The steering in my 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid gets sticky. It resists movement making small adjustments, especially on the highway. It gets worse the longer that I drive but then goes away if I stop the car (like at a rest stop) but then reappears soon after. After my 2nd complaint to the dealership, the service manager states that he took it on a one hour drive and didn't experience the same issue. I called the dealership on 10/30/2025 stating that the problem seems to be getting worse. They said that they couldn't do anything unless they can recreate the issue, but could not offer me a loaner vehicle while they have my car. At times, knowing that the steering is electronically controlled, I

SERVICE BRAKES
Component/System: Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) or related software. Vehicle available for inspection. Safety Risk: Vehicle brakes or decelerates unexpectedly during normal driving, risking rear-end collisions. Most recent incident on August 23, 2025, required override by pressing accelerator and shifting to neutral in traffic. Reproduction: Dealer could not replicate issue during May 16, 2025 visit. No diagnostic codes found. Radar and braking systems reported as “operating normally.” A second evaluation occurred after September 5, 2025, with no resolution; issue persists. Inspection: Inspected by Honda dealership twice—on May 16, 2025 (Invoice #488382) and again after

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Wiring harness failed randomly at 42,000 with no damage to the harness, engine, or vehicle itself. Without the wiring harness the engine does not run properly and shakes violently, causing the car to lose power. This happened with no prior warnings, problems, or damage. Additionally the steering rack seems “loose” and changes direction quite quickly when hitting a pothole or uneven roads even at lower speeds. I have to make sure I constantly have a firm grip on the wheel so no sudden unexpected direction changes occur due to imperfections in the road.

NHTSA complaint 11690146. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

STEERING
Steering rack clunking on every turn of the wheel. Common problem being reported online, Honda does do replacements but often dealers will fight over the severity of the problem. A brand new vehicle should not have steering problems.

NHTSA complaint 11689738. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

STEERING
I was sitting in my car, and the entire steering and brake system went offline and the car had a bunch of hazard lights on and said to tow to a dealership. I tested the steering, and didn’t feel the wheels turn with the steering wheel, and the brakes went to the floor. When I went to shut off my car, it did the emergency shut-off (press 2xs or hold for 3 seconds). I attempted to restart the car about 4 times that night, and then I let it sit and tried it again 2 more times before having it towed to the dealership. The dealership stated they received the car and everything was suddenly fine and there were no code history, and they could not tell me the issue. Prior to this, the only issue I

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
