Park outside until repaired

The defect
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Tucson vehicles equipped with an optional Mobis tow hitch wiring harness. The wiring harness may have been installed incorrectly, allowing water into the control module. Moisture accumulation may cause the trailer lighting to fail or an electrical short circuit.
The risk
Nonfunctioning trailer lights can increase the risk of a crash. A short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.
The remedy
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will remove the trailer wiring harness and install a dust cap over the wiring receptacle, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 11, 2026. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 290. I was rear-ended at an extremely high speed by an intoxicated driver. The impact from being rear-ended pushed my vehicle into another car, damaging the front and rear of my vehicle. My car was a 2024 Tucson with 14,646 miles in perfect condition. No warning lights were on the vehicle, as I consistently take excellent care of my cars. The airbags did not deploy. My car was totaled. I had several injuries from the accident.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I have a 2024 Hyundai Tuscon SLE that I purchased new and several months ago there was a recall on the trailer hitch wiring. I took the car to Hyundai and they removed the wiring harness hitch due to a fire danager. Todate I have not received a replacement hiring harness, so my vehicle is now useless for pulling a trailer for several months. (The spring and summer months are when I use this the most and have not been able to.) All I hear from Hyundai is that they do not have a cure for this. I notice that the 2025 and 2026 models have a wiring harness on them that do not need replacing. I need something done ASAP regarding this matter. Why has NOTHING been done regarding this replacement?

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The air conditioning system in my 2024 Hyundai Tucson has never adequately cooled the cabin during high outdoor temperatures, since I purchased the vehicle. The vehicle is parked outdoors in direct sunlight daily, as I have no garage or carport access, and the issue is most severe and consistent during hot weather. This creates a heat exposure risk while driving, particularly on hot days when cabin temperatures remain uncomfortably high despite the AC running and set to the coldest setting. Prolonged exposure to excessive cabin heat can pose a safety risk, including impaired driver alertness and general heat-related discomfort/health risk. I brought the vehicle to CMA's Hyundai of Lynchburg

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
On 7/29/2026, the vehicle experienced a critical safety failure involving the electronic transmission shift-by-wire system, resulting in an unintended rollaway after the ignition was turned off. While parked on an incline, the driver depressed the brake pedal and pressed the Engine Start/Stop button while the vehicle was still positioned in Drive (D). The engine shut off completely. According to factory safety design and vehicle specifications, cutting the ignition in this state is engineered to automatically trigger an electronic command to shift the transmission into Park (P). However, the vehicle failed to execute this electronic fail-safe. The electronic parking pawl did not engage, and

NHTSA complaint 11751464. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
This has happened twice now. When going at a low speed, once in traffic, once while performing a U-turn, while braking, the car is trying to accelerate. I have to practically stand on the brake pedal to avoid the car lurching forward. I saw no warning lights on the dashboard. I haven't yet brought the vehicle to a dealer or service center, but it will be.

NHTSA complaint 11751431. Filed by an owner and not verified by NHTSA or by us.

SEAT BELTS
Center rear buckle fails to latch. Plastic case separated after normal operation of closing/folding down the rear seat. Buckle case separated from buckle latch. Buckle would latch with plastic cover missing, however would be a considerable risk, as a the retaining bar feature is not captive to the buckle and would separate in use, if used. As well as a pinch hazard. The center buckle was only use a handful of times and is free from contamination/debris. A safety buckle shouldn't fail under normal operation of folding a seat as designed. The seat folding action caused the buckle casing to pop off and separate.

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
