25V357000 · May 29, 2025

The defect
Mazda North American Operations is recalling certain 2024-2025 Mazda3 and CX30 vehicles. The Sophisticated Air Bag Sensor (SAS) units may set an error code and deactivate the air bags, due to a low battery condition.
The risk
Air bags that do not deploy in the event of a crash increase the risk of injury.
The remedy
Dealers will reprogram the SAS unit with improved software or replace the unit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 24, 2025. Mazda's number for this recall is 7525E.

SERVICE BRAKES

While driving normally at highway speed on I-880 South, the braking system failed to decelerate the vehicle. When the brake pedal was pressed firmly, there was no normal slowing—only a sliding sensation, as if the wheels locked and the car moved forward on ice. This led to a collision with a stopped vehicle ahead. The following day, the Mazda App displayed a red alert message: “Brake system malfunction. Braking effectiveness may be decreased.” The vehicle’s airbags deployed very forcefully, causing bruising to both driver and passenger, even though the impact was not severe. Three days before the incident, the vehicle had a scheduled maintenance and recall service at a Mazda dealer,

The contact rented a 2024 Mazda CX-30. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, an "i-ACTIVSENSE Partially Disabled Front Radar Malfunction" warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact attempted to exit the highway; however, the vehicle failed to stop upon depression of the brake pedal. The contact continued to pump the brakes and even engaged the emergency brakes, but the vehicle failed to stop. Due to the failure, the contact crashed into the vehicle in front of her as the "Vehicle System Malfunction, Have the Vehicle Inspected" warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact later sought medical

SEATS

fire

I have a brand new Mazda CX-30 with less than 10k miles. I was not made aware of the seat material being highly flamible. Luckily I nor my kids were in the car when the seat caught fire due to a magnifying effect. Magnifying Effect (Sunlight): If a clear glass or plastic object (like a water bottle, eyeglasses, or even a certain type of air freshener) was left on the seat in direct sunlight, it could have acted as a lens, focusing the sun's rays onto a small area of the seat material. Over time, this concentrated heat could become intense enough to ignite the fabric, especially if it's dry and flammable. This is more likely to happen on a hot, sunny day. I brought this up with the

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Reporting Product Defect in Mazda Vehicles I am writing to bring to your attention a recurring design flaw affecting current Mazda vehicles, including models such as CX30, MX30, and potentially the Mazda3 series. Following heavy rain or high humidity conditions, there is a consistent issue with the tire pressure sensor alarming and the smart key being unable to unlock the car doors. I have checked my key fob battery, RF function, car battery - none of these are the root cause. Despite consulting local dealerships and various Mazda forums, no one seems to have a definitive solution to this problem. Therefore, I am reaching out to report the existence of this product defect. This issue

SERVICE BRAKES
When I first got my Mazda CX30 2024 New lease ,my Breaks were very weak & didn't perform as new. Only 2 years later w 9K miles on it, Mazda states my breaks need to be replaced. My rotors need to be shave. A whole list of services on a car thats 2 years old. My concern is, break service at 9K confirm my car wasn't new and that Mazda put my Safety at risk w Old Breaks... Mazda is hiding somerhing about my breaks playing games...in the mean time I feel my safety is in jeopardy with defective breaks that maza should fully cover under warranty. Which they won't honor. Putting my safety in jeopardy

SERVICE BRAKES
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The automatic braking turned on while I was accelerating. My car is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I could have been rear ended because my car automatically braked at an unpredictable time in rush hour traffic with someone very close behind me. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? It has happened to me maybe 4 times before but the dealer hasn't been able to reproduce it. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
[XXX] fuel door assembly has come loose from body. It looks like the clips that hold it in place have become worn or loose by the weight of the gas nozzle or by the fact that the gas door will not close correctly and car wash machine has made it looser and it appears to not shut all the way, and the body colored panel has fallen off as a result and when you pump gas, the assembly moves may be possibly causing it to leak gasoline if the seal or gasket becomes dislodged because of the loose clips that hold assembly to the body panel. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The vehicle intermittently fails to start when pressing the push-button start system. The start/stop button becomes unresponsive despite normal conditions (key present, brake engaged, no warning indicators preventing ignition). This has now occurred twice within two years of ownership, indicating a recurring issue rather than an isolated incident. On the most recent occurrence, the vehicle was completely unable to start and required towing. The tow truck operator reported that he had towed four vehicles of the same make/model for the exact same issue within one week, suggesting a broader pattern affecting multiple vehicles. Safety Concern: This presents a significant safety risk, including:

VISIBILITY/WIPER
I was driving down the Highway and the sun roof just exploded send shards of glass everywhere and nothing had hit it or anything. It just exploded. When I got to the dealer the person ahead of me had the exact same thing and we compared pictures. It was scary, dangerous and really loud when it happened.

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
