STRUCTURE:BODY

1 injured · crash · towed

The 2026 toyota suddenly accelerated when pulling into a handicap space. Suddenly the vehicle jumped the concrete barrier and sidewalk and hit a building. The airbags did not deploy and the seat belts came off as normal. The building was not damaged but my wife sustained a shoulder injury and whiplash. The vechicle was towed from the scene and is at Collison Center where the collison occurred. Note: 2026 is when all electronic components were engineered into the vehicle. The vehicle has not been started since the accident. The outcome could have resulted in a life altering injury or death. The problem has not been reproduced as the vehicle is not driveable. The vehicle was purchased the 14

SEAT BELTS

1 injured · crash · towed

The seatbelt in a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid (VIN: [XXX]) has unexpectedly unbuckled during normal driving conditions. This has occurred on three separate occasions. On [XXX], the seatbelt unbuckled during vehicle operation, contributing to injury during a single-vehicle accident in Texas. The injured occupant was evaluated at a military hospital. The seatbelt was properly fastened prior to the incident, and no warning lights were present. This appears to be a potential defect in the seatbelt restraint system and presents a serious safety risk. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

SEAT BELTS

1 injured · crash · towed

The driver of a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid experienced a serious safety event involving both the seatbelt restraint system and vehicle speed control systems. While operating the vehicle, the driver-side seatbelt allegedly disengaged/unlatched unexpectedly. The driver was properly restrained prior to the incident and did not intentionally release the seatbelt. The disengagement occurred immediately before or during a single-vehicle crash. During the crash sequence, airbags deployed. However, it appeared that the vehicle continued to move forward under cruise control or sustained throttle input even after airbag deployment.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

1 injured · crash · towed · 6,000 miles

The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at 10-15 MPH, the contact attempted to activate the cruise control mode system for the first time since purchasing the vehicle. The system failed to activate, and a message indicating that the cruise control was not activated was displayed. The contact attempted to activate the system a second time, and the vehicle significantly accelerated, the steering wheel and brake pedal locked up, causing the vehicle to crash through the garage door of a house and into an unoccupied parked vehicle. The air bags deployed. The vehicle automatically connected to Toyota Safety Connect, and the contact requested the

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Everyone’s safety is at risk because these monitors are failing, and they aren’t doing anything about it. I asked for a loaner I don’t feel safe driving my brand new car. The last recall was a Risk of fire. So they got me a loaner, this one is only risking a crash so they don’t feel responsible. This cant be legal for them to make me drive around a car that may lose its hazards blinkers and speedometer at any time.especially since my other monitor is already working intermittently. I have zero faith in this car, and Toyota is refusing to prevent accidents by selling working vehicles, or providing a working vehicle until it is ready.

HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V869000 (Hybrid Propulsion System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

AIR BAGS
The car is owned by AVIS Car Rental. I happened to be driving this vehicle in the downtown Chicago area with only 11,820 miles on it the airbag light turned on and the passenger active status light for the airbag just completely turned off not indicating if the passenger airbag was enabled or disabled. As soon as I turned off the vehicle and turn it back on the airbag light didn't turn on anymore and everything started working as normal again. On different groups on Facebook I have seen people posting about the same issue with their own Camrys. Being a big company or corporation most likely no one will take the time to report the issue but I rather do my own part and do it for them. It's a

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
While driving my 2026 Toyota Camry LE Hybrid at approximately 10 mph in a parking lot, the vehicle accelerated on its own without any input from me. I applied hard braking to bring the vehicle under control. No collision occurred. The specific component or system that failed is UNKNOWN — I suspect the speed control, powertrain, or electrical throttle system, but this has not yet been diagnosed. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the vehicle accelerated unexpectedly at low speed in a parking lot, an environment with pedestrians, parked vehicles, and other close-proximity hazards. I had to brake hard to stop it,

LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
This is the only way I can get my message to you that I know of. It is very distracting having to deal with all the ADAS systems. They are actually a distraction for me, taking my eyes off the road when I most need them on the road to figure out why the "nanny" alarms are going off. I don't know why these things are being added to vehicles, but we have to turn them off as much as we can. If I get in an accident, it will be because of these features not because I am not paying attention to the road. Thank you for letting me share my perspective. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

crash · towed

I encountered an accident on 6/6/2026 due to a sudden acceleration of this car. I stepped on the gas pedal slightly to move the car approximately one foot to the curve to park, when all of a sudden the car suddenly accelerated full force that it jumped over the curve and hit the wall of the restaurant. I asked Toyota to investigate the content of the black box. Toyota told me that the result and resolution should be out in 30 to 45 days. It’s been more than 45 days and I have been calling them and Toyota still cannot provide with the formalized result of their investigation. The data from the vehicle’s black box was obtained on 6/19/2026. My car is still on the repair shop. I want to know

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
