The defect
Nissan North America (Nissan) is recalling certain 2013-2014 Murano and Murano Cross Cabriolet vehicles. The power steering hose clamp may not adequately secure the hose, allowing the hose to detach and leak power steering fluid.
The risk
If the power steering fluid leaks onto a heat source such as hot engine or exhaust components, there could be an increased risk of a fire.
The remedy
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install a power steering high pressure hose kit, free of charge. The recall began May 10, 2017. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A RIGHT TO TURN INTO THE PARKING SPACE AT THE RESTAURANT AND THE TRUCK JERKED FORWARD. I PRESSED THE BRAKE PAD AND QUICKLY NOTICED THAT THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP. I SAID OUT LOUD, ITS NOT STOPPING! THE PASSENGER IN MY TRUCK THEN LEANED OVER AND NOTICED THAT MY FOOT WAS IN FACT ON THE BREAK PAD. I MADE THE STATEMENT AGAIN, ITS NOT STOPPING! THE TRUCK ROLLED OVER THE CONCRETE PARKING BLOCK AND PROCEEDED INTO THE BUILDING. I WAS PUMPING THE BREAK PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AT THIS POINT. I COULD HEAR THE ENGINE ACCELERATING AS I WAS PUMPING THE BREAK PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. I YELLED UNCONTROLLABLY BECAUSE I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. I

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Nissan Murano. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of the purchase, the mileage was 7,071; however, after the purchase, it was discovered via the national motor vehicle title information system that the mileage was 70,172.

STEERING
I am reporting a dealer's refusal to perform a safety recall repair (Campaign R1710) on my 2014 Nissan Murano. The local dealership in Montgomery, AL has repeatedly failed to schedule this repair, which involves a high-pressure power steering hose fire risk. Due to a chronic medical neck condition, I have requested email communication, but the dealer has not complied. I am requesting NHTSA's intervention to ensure this federal safety mandate is fulfilled.

The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that multiple issues were experienced with the vehicle while driving, including the following: the transmission has odd noises, is not changing gears properly, and emits a burning smell; the vehicle randomly overheats; the brake fluid bubbles when the vehicle is turned on; the AC compressor has failed three times; and the serpentine belt and power steering fluid randomly fail. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where a pressure test was performed indicating issues with the Continuously Variable Transmission, engine, and brakes. Only the AC compressor was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate

The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the AC compressor became inoperable. The contact stated that the power steering fluid was making an abnormal sound like the fluid was boiling. The message "Maintenance Other" was displayed, and the front air bags warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed, and determined that the AC compressor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was determined that the AC compressor and the serpentine belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle

POWER TRAIN
On multiple occasions now the transmission has failed to switch gears causing the RPM's to stay elevated while no additional power has been created. This happens mostly on the highway at 55 to 60 mph but has also happened on side/back roads especially when changing elevation (up or down hill). The repair shop said it is throwing transmission repair codes and that this type of transmission is not worth fixing. They would simply need to order a new one from Nissan at between $7,500.00 to $8,500.00 dollars. Great money making scheme for Nissan. There are multiple complaints of this problem for the 2014 Murano and there are recalls on Nissan transmissions from other years. This seems to be a

Where these numbers come from

A complaint is one owner's account and has not been verified by NHTSA or by us. A vehicle with more complaints is not necessarily worse: models that sold in larger numbers collect more of them. How this is counted.
